Sonya & James [Wedding]

Brace yourself for a seriously fun wedding! And another epic post! Cos we got a Ukranian-themed wedding to show off!  The lovely couple this time were Sonya & James, over Bradford way.  Let me start by saying, Ukranians know how to party. Get a load of this… Sonya’s family are Ukranian, and there was a strong Ukranian theme to this wedding, with loads of fun traditions from the old country. Their are so many Ukrainian wedding traditions, and it’s not just a party but a whole set of special rituals which symbolized creation of a strong life foundation of a...

Tracey & Scott [Pre-Wed]

I seem to spend my life at the Woodlands hotel recently!  This time I was dropping in to meet Tracy & Scott for their pre-wed meet & chat.  After a quick chat it looked like the heavens were about to open, so we took a sharpish turn around the grounds! They look well chilled out eh? Why?  They later admitted they were so nervous about doing a shoot that they’d been in the pub all afternoon, calling on a certain Flemish courage! Am I that scary!!? Not that they needed it! Check out this cool portrait of Scott. Down at...

Matt & Nigel [Wedding]

A little while back, I made another visit to one of my fave wedding venues in Leeds, the lovely Woodlands hotel… For the civil union of these two fine fellows, Matt & Nigel! We’d done the pre-wed shoot at Woodlands a few weeks prior (check it out here) & they were totally relaxed in front of my camera. It was possibly the smallest ceremony I’ve ever been to, with a total of 14 guests.  Which was actually really cool, not only cos they were all such fun, but because there was loads of time to get great shots of everyone. ...

U2 • 360 Tour [Live @ Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield]

Last week I saw U2 at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, on their northern leg of the 360 Tour.  Myself & a few local photographers moonlight at rock togs in association with The Sound Gallery, and Phil tried his luck getting press-passes for the U2 show.  As it turned out, on the morning of the gig, we got confirmation that we had two press passes! But as myself, Clare & her pal Alix already had tickets, and the logistics of doing both looked a pain. So while TSG togs Barber & Booker got their press passes & shuffled into the...

A London wedding [Teaser]

I’m on the train home rinsing the free wi-fi and thought I’d throw up a few faves from yesterday’s central London wedding of Louisa & Ben (hot off the sensor!). Bridal preps were at the swanky Waldorf Hotel in Holborn, and the girls were having their hair done at Ginger Group round the corner.  After Louisa had her veil put in, I liked this catch of her walking back to the hotel with her sister Mel & their brollies. I like the London vibe with a lost tourist & the red phonebox. I love this shot of Louisa putting her...

Clare & Paul [Pre-wed]

One sunny day last week I dropped the top & drove an hour north to meet Clare & Paul for their pre-wed in the Dales.  I photographed Clare’s sister’s wedding in the dales last year and this time it’s Clare’s turn to be the bride. Clare & Paul are loads of fun, love walking & the countryside.  After noseying about their Ilkley church & cute village hall in Cracoe (AKA: the middle of nowhere) we got down to business, romping round sheep filled fields! Mind those sheep pats… Chasing sheep in the Yorkshire Dales. Rustique, by a gate that’s seen...

Meeting a famous DJ

A while back after writing a wee post about my fave stateside bloggers, I was blessed when a certain Mr David Jay heard about my post (via Google Alerts I’ve since learnt) and made a kind post about me on said famous blog.  My traffic hit the roof and has stayed high since.  A little goes a long way, as they say. DJ mentioned that he was coming to London to see U2, and asked Snr Barber & I if we were about, so we thought we’d make a road trip of it. We hit that black tar river at...

August Issue Faves [Leeds Guide magazine shoots]

In spite of the wedding-filled summer, I’ve taken on a few extra Leeds Guide shoots for LG colleague & fellow wedding tog Tom Arber, who’s been swanning about Ireland on his honeymoon (be sure to check his beautiful post about it here). Leeds Guide shoots are great to keep things interesting, and my lovely work experience / assistant for this issue Natasha Cadman & I kicked off with a ‘My Favourite Outfit’ shoot with an ace hairdresser called Kylie… Kylie made our life easy by a) having done some modelling before, b) wearing the coolest Betty Boo / Harley Davidson...

Clare & Mark [Pre-wed]

A few weekends back I was down in London on business & pleasure, shooting pre-weds and catching up with buddies.  It was particularly cool to join up with my man Mark & his fiance Clare.  Mark & I met back in ’99, volunteering at a spinal injuries centre in Bangladesh.  Over there we had a giggle trundling round in rickshaws & getting random clothes tailored out of all sorts of fruity cloth.  We’ve been pals since; especially considering his proximity to a Zone 2 tube station & the fact that their Holloway house is like a drop-in international hostel. Mark...

Made in London! A weekend in the big smoke…

Last weekend I was down in London to shoot a few pre-weds for upcoming London weddings.  In between I had a lovely time catching up with various buddies I’ve met along the way.  I stayed with pals Rob & Nicky (who’s wedding I made the movie out of) and we went out for an amazing Italian in Wimbledon that served pizza’s as big as your table.  The next morning I met Katy, an old pal I met when I volunteered in Bangladesh once upon a lifetime ago.  Since we last met she’d borned a new baby boy called Thomas, who’s...
