One of the shoots on last weeks Leeds Guide brief was to photograph Miss Harrogate in various party frocks from the shops of Leeds. Life is hard. This one was probably my fave and has my vote for the issue cover. Miss Harrogate is actually Vivienne Edge a pro model based in Leeds. I didn’t…

I’ve find setting up filters in life help keep the best things coming your way. It’s not devious or overtly strategic, but some particular pals are particularly geeky and keep me informed of new technological advances, some musos point me towards exciting new releases and some photographers drop me a line to let me know…
Gran Torino has been on my list for a while, I’ll be sure to snag it now! 2 films I love and have re-watched recently are Priceless (french title – Hors de prix), love that for the warm south of France feel, and the full directors cut of Leon. Not too easy to get hold of it seems but it’s really worth it. I found the extra 14 minutes that Luc Besson wanted us to see really added depth to the story. Great great film.
A picture may not always speak 1000 words, but this next one certainly sets the scene… I was asked down to London to photograph the wedding of my dear pal Mark Nunn & his good lady, Clare. I met Markwah & his sis in Bangladesh, of all places, and we’ve got on ever since. He’s…
You´re a genius. More resoned feedback to follow, but for now, if anyone else is reading this, the original version of Aisha is by Cheb Khaled – often just Khaled – and written, interestingly, by Jean Jacques Goldman – and though the Outlandish version is great, I promise you this is better…

Fabulous photos. You’ve really captured the atmosphere of the day. Thanks so much Can’t wait to see all the others when the wanderers return. Choosing which to order is going to be very difficult. Jenni
Just a quick post(er!) I was in a bar/restaurant in Headingley, Leeds the other day called Arcadia. It’s a bit of a Belgian-style beer house with a plethora of interestingly shaped bottles full of malty/fruity/nutty/cheeky 10% alcohol headaches. Here it be: The walls were covered with amazing Art Deco and Art Nouveau posters. I got…
Back in October the legendary Irish muso Mark Geary brought his pals Dan Wilde, Seamus McGloughlin & Ian Bailey to Verve for a special gig in association with my Sunday Service acoustic band night. We’ve had Mark & Dan down before and they both simply amazing. It may have been the hottest gig ever, because as…
Myself, Phil Barber and Rob Booker have been working hard behind the scenes on our new company called 3B Media, which you may have read about on some previous blog posts. We’re really excited as our first photography training day has been finalised and we’re now taking bookings! We’ve called our workshop series: Inspiring Photography,…
You may have heard that the worlds of photography & videography have aligned somewhat under the shadow of HD video. Or you may have been living in a cave. The release of the now infamous Canon 5DmkII, which as well as fundamentally being a mint stills camera with silly high resolution & rather good low…
Well that was a crazy busy weekend! As well as the three pre-weds and an excellent Akbars curry with pals (try the Murgh Makhani if you’re passing!) I managed to check out two stand-up comedy titans, Eddie Izzard & Jimmy Carr. Saturday was Eddie’s turn and with about 12 friends we made an exodus to…
Last Sunday, I shoehorned in three fun pre-wedding meetings with upcoming wedding clients. As well as catching up with these cool couples, it was really rather pleasant to take Sonic out for a spin to Harrogate, York and back Leeds via Hazlewood castle. I do enjoy driving driving and love my mid-life-crisis sports car. Equal…
Wow, hard day at the office Mr B!!! Love that one of Bri with her head leaning on the wall, magic stuff. The one of Georgie & Jonny with the open gate is a real master stroke, top of your game my man, top of your game. PS – Remind me sometime to ask you just how the bloody hell you do it!
Great pictures! Love the colour saturation on the sepia toned pics.
[...] these two again at their beautiful wintery pre-wed at Hazelwood Castle a few months back (post here). We had loads of fun and it was a joy to laugh and mess about photographing them. I could tell [...]
[...] I’d shot their pre-wed in York one glorious winter day in December (post here)… [...]
Bonjourno chicos! I shot another Leeds Guide last week and got up to all sorts of fun stuff. One feature was shot in House of Fraser, where a Bobby Brown makeup artist made LG sales mentalist Lucy’s eyes all smoky. Looks cool eh? And yeah yeah, I know I spelt smoky wrong on the pic. …
Um, having seen these pics, I’m pretty much hungry and desperate for a cocktail now and it’s not even 11am! Even a birthday girl can’t get away with starting on the sauce this early in the day!
Fab photies Barnaby.

Simon - Fantastic shots, gorgeous model, but whyohwhyohwhy did they insist on those ridiculous fake eyelashes for *every* shot??
Barnaby Aldrick - I couldn’t agree more Si. That was my first question. “Are those things removable?” and apparently they weren’t.
They’d've been good for one setup, but overkill for the lot.
Cheers for the comment squire
Tom Arber - Very nice images Mr Aldrick. Really nice skin tones, and bold colours. Just looking quality!
Barnaby Aldrick - Cheers tombola! Nice to hear from you too amigo. Long time no see!
AC - I liked the one in the red dress too, the one with the girl smiling – she has a very nice natural smile. The one right after was nice too, blue dress. Be a bit careful though Barnaby, there are already to many male photogrophers who turn women inte objects, and it’s a fine line between good fashionphotographs and soft porn theese days. A little more person and a little less maikin’ love to the camera and then I’m all thumbs up. You master light extremly well and your digital work afterwards is flawless.
have a nice Christmas!
ps. the eye lashes speaks for themselves. Sometimes you do your best with what you have
Barnaby Aldrick - Cheers AC! Great to hear your thoughts and compliments! Hope you have a fab Christmas in Sweden too. B x
Leeds Guide Magazine // Corn Exchange Spring Fashion Shoot • by Barnaby Aldrick | Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography - Blog - [...] Last time we did a similar feature was an Xmas party clothes shoot with Miss Harrogate, Vivienne Edge. A geezer called Ben Spear of Spearhead design was helping assist with me on that issue and was invaluable helping set up flash & reflectors. I was really pleased with how the images came out actually, considering we’d only used 2 speedlight flashguns. Check out the blog post about it here. [...]
