My snapper buddy Mr Barber showed me this short film his Irish mate Larry McMahon shot on his Canon 5DmkII. He filmed it at Shackleton Mill in Ireland and set it to John Murphy‘s 28 days later theme, giving it a haunting, menacing quality. I basically wanted to show it on my blog cos it’s…

Last week I hit the streets of Leeds on Leeds Guide magazine duties, assisted again by my knowledgeable homie Ben Spear of Spear Design As promised (dear readers!) I vowed to shoot a couple of behind the scenes pics to show how I get what I get on location with limited gear. Today I’ve got…
Awesome – some great tips there. Thanks for sharing. Really need to get set up with off camera flash!
One misty morning last week I joined an old pal Helen & her partner Richard for their pre-wedding meeting in York. I’ve known Helen for years and she’s had me booked pretty much since she started dreaming up her big day! It’s always a little different shooting people you know. But these two made my…
Stumbling around on’t internet I happened upon a gallery of images by a chap called Cedric Delsaux. …it took me a moment to spot the significance. Cedric Delsaux is a stunning French photographer with a wryly amusing take on life. He’s recently created a series called The Dark Lens, where he’s photographed ordinary daily scenes…
Last Saturday I shot the Ukrainian wedding of Nina & Mark round Bradford, Yorkshire. I shot a ‘Ukey’ Wedding before (check the blog here) & really enjoyed all the fun traditions. There were family blessings in the morning, wedding party vodka shots, clipping safety pins into clothes for luck, an entire ceremony in Ukrainian, throwing…
Great work Barnaby – looks like everyone had a fab day. I think the slideshow on the day or very soon afterwards must be wonderful for the bride and groom to see – lucky them.
Love this Barnaby!
The dancing pics are fab!
Hay Barnaby! Loving your work! I can not stop watching this slideshow and rembering what an amazing day it was. It was nice of you to put this slideshoe together before the evening gusets came, so that they could see what had happend in the day, What a good idea! Thank you for being a BIG part of our big day xxxx
A Swedish friend of mine sent me a link to a Swedish wedding tog living and working in Australia called Jonas Peterson. I just had a nosey through his excellent wedding blogsite (which made me wanna buy one of those not-so-cheap tilt & shift lenses…) and had a link to an interesting Q&A section about…
That slideshow is stunning – very emotive. The guy has got some skills eh!

I noticed that I blogged every day last week! I think it’s great to keep updating the content on here so there’s a reason to come back and see what’s new. The Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography blog began life and is still very much a portfolio for my wedding clients to see recent work. An…
Tjenare, tjenare!
I stumbled upon an intresting wedingphotographer. He’s Swedish, but based in Australia I think – the web page’s in english. Take a look
Last week Phil Barber, Rob Booker & I joined our pals Hope & Social at the Crypt where they’re in the process of recording their second album. They’ve done various creative gigs and events at the Crypt before and for some reason had a feeling it was in a romantic hamlet on the edge of…
Wonderful story board of images Barnaby. You really captured the magic of the place. To think of all that craft going on underneath that church as the sun sets and after….very nice.
Thanks for the mention too, really looking forward to working with you on some projects this year.
Great pics! I have never seen the church in the daylight! lovely place! really great pics!
Wow – about time we had a local studio!

After yesterday’s spring roll snaps I thought I’d post some actual food & drink photography I’ve shot for the Leeds Guide recently… It’s quite the challenge to make food look appetising. Especially as I can’t fake it by painting things with varnish and piping mashed potato into a McFlurry cup. I literally turn up at…
Cheers Dude, great blogging. Just about to set off to do 2 foody shoots myself so got me old brain going now. I like the clean and simple style of your shots, Mmmmmm hungry!!!!!
thumbs up!
Just so brilliant…..so appetising! Must try the curryhouse at Clarence Dock sometime soon. Mum
Myself + Clare, the less attractive thirds of 3B•Media (Phil Barber and Rob Booker) & their respective better halves have decided to throw a Come Dine With Me extravaganza in the next month or so. For those of thee who don’t find themselves stopping their channel hop when they pass Come Dine With Me, it’s…
Haha – we have that show in Sweden too, “7.30 at my place” It’s funny. Maybe coz the narrator is extremely ironic about everything they do and say.
Maybe try different lighting for your food – like simulating daylight, adding soft shadows & back light by bouncing it off the ceiling/walls or a foam board? And you need some “piff”! Piffing is a good swedish word, actually “to piffa”. That’s all the extras, tablecloth, cuttlery, flowers, spices etc.
Strike 4 looks great, 1-3 less so…where do you recommend for good Thai curry paste?! Supermarket stuff is dire.
I piffar, you piffar they piffar. To piffa. or the noun piff. and yes, whe u can’t smell or taste, piff’s everything..
though i can imagine they’re tasty. Hoping for coriander leaves in them…
Cheers, I’ll seek some out, I love all 3 varieties and haven’t had a decent one in ages. If you’re ever in Amsterdam check out the Thai Bird restaurant – I swear their curries are better than any I had in Thailand!
Ahh, these were the Laotian spring rolls you spoke about the other week.
I must say they look better fried than cold, but then the cold ones do have a certain allure to them which I can’t quite place my finger on…
