Rachel & Iain // OTD Wedding Slideshow – by Barnaby Aldrick

Last Thursday I joined the most excellent couple Rachel & Iain for their big day at Woodlands hotel in Leeds. You may remember the cool image images we got of them on their pre-wedding stroll around the Strid at Bolton Abbey (blog post here) They had their wedding on a double anniversary (the day they started dating & the day Iain proposed) and it was the most glorious spring day. As is generally the case, during Rachel & Iain’s wedding breakfast I backed up their images to my laptop and made a quick slideshow to show at the evening reception....

Sunday Service March // Music Photography • by Barnaby Aldrick

Man – where did April go?  Time certainly is airborne, eh? I’ve just found a moment to unearth & process the images from last months Sunday Service (the monthly acoustic band night I host in Leeds centre).  It was such an excellent gig last month.  We had three amazing bands along to wow the packed crowd.  Two members of Black Carousel, March of Dimes and Pilla.  I’m so proud to be at the helm of the night, as it’s been going from strength to strength and is somehow consistently ace, thanks to the new bands and old faves who keep...

Sarah & Chris // Pre-Wedding Shoot • Photography by Barnaby Aldrick

Introducing Sarah & Chris! We met last weekend in Burnsall in the Dales in glorious sunshine to chat over their upcoming big day. I’ve photographed weddings in this village several times before, and it doesn’t get more picturesque Yorkshire than this. They’re getting married at the beautiful Devonshire Fell just up the hill from Burnsall village green. I went to school with these two once upon a time! We drunk 8% cider in the park, Youth Hostelled together and generally listening to too much Nirvana, Suede & Blur. But coolest of all, they were sweethearts in high school too. All...

Be Stupid // Cool Diesel Advertising Campaign • Photography by Barnaby Aldrick

I recently had my eye caught by Diesel‘s recent ‘Be Stupid’ campaign as I walked past their Leeds store. They’re basically championing being silly over being smart, with clever, irreverent photography.  Like so… How good is that?  One of those brilliant photos I wish I’d thought of. Not an outstanding image, but a brilliant moment and sentiment that made me smile. I love the idea behind all of these I love how they’ve caught fun in amusing every day places. An image can say a lot. Genius. A cool idea, smartly executed. This could well be my life’s motto!  Another...

Erica & Dave // OTD Wedding Slideshow – by Barnaby Aldrick

Last Friday was the most glorious wedding of Erica & Dave! Dave is an old, old school pal and it was fab catching up with him & getting to know Erica while they were up in Leeds for the pre-wed (post here). But I felt so involved and looked after all weekend.  I was put up at the pub in the picturesque village of Sonning with the groomsmen and had a lovely meal with them the night before the wedding.  On the day I was chauffeured about and looked after by everyone.  After cameras were put to bed (in my...

Nina & Mark // A Ukrainian Wedding • Photography by Barnaby Aldrick

Introducing Nina & Mark… For some reason it’s taken me a little while to get round to creating a full blog post for Nina & Mark’s wedding back at the end of February.  I think it may be down to it having being a Ukrainian wedding and there are SO many ace details that it’s hard to choose the images the tell the story in a concise way.  The last time I shot a “Ukey” wedding the supporting blog (for Sonya & James’ wedding – post here) was the longest and most image intensive blog I think I’ve ever written. ...

A post to make you hungry! // Sandinista Food Photography • by Barnaby Aldrick

Hey everyone!  I do hope you’re all rested and had an ace Easter break. It’s a funny one Easter; you officially get longer off than Christmas, but with limited obligation to do anything but each chocolate. For me Easter generally bursts out of the blue and suddenly I’ve got 4 days off to play with!  Clare & I decided to spend about 13 hours of our break on motorways to Dorset & back visiting Clare’s parents and pals.  Though I can’t complain really, sleeping most of both ways. Of course I was selflessly avoiding distracting Clare while she held the...

Happy Easter one and all! • From Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography

My mum sent me this in an email under the subject title “An Eggy Fart…” It made me smile.  I love it when people creatively think out of the (egg) box. We’re crossing most of England to Dorset today to visit the relis, with everyone else in the UK.  Looking forward to the traffic… May I take this moment to thank you all for reading a supporting this blog & wish you all a very Happy Easter weekend! Enjoy the rest with your near and dear, Barnaby

Leeds Guide cover shoot // The Sunshine Underground • By Barnaby Aldrick

The first shoot on this week’s Leeds Guide brief was a cover shoot with the up-and-coming Leeds band The Sunshine Underground.  They’re one of the headliners for the upcoming Live at Leeds festival on May Bank Holiday weekend (30th April>3rd May 2010) and a lot of the next Leeds Guide’s will be promoting the fest.  I caught some of it last year and it’s a pretty sweet festival, running all over Leeds at pretty much all the music venues around. The Leeds Guide wanted these chaps to be in front of a recognizable Leeds Music venue, so we met them at...
