Possibly my shortest blog ever! [by Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography]

Hey peeps! I just wanted to pop up a post to say that I’m working hell for leather to get this hectic summers albums drafted & images turned around for clients, so I’ve been a tad slack on the blog.  But I’ve all sorts of fun stuff in the pipes to show y’all; including the…

Simon - I like the Pola border on the first one, you don’t have a handy link to show me how to do that, do you? Or is it a bought Action maybe? Sorry to ask when you’re so busy, but I’ve been looking for something like that for ages.

Barnaby Aldrick - Hey dude. I’ve collected borders from various sources and have created my own photoshop templates to drop images behind, before playing with different overlay blending modes. But the places to start looking are the Parker J/Pfister Photoshop Actions (which include a bunch of borders) & Kubota’s sloppy borders. I don’t use them too much as they can get a bit gimmicky, but equally they can look pretty sweet & bring an image to life. Hope that helps muchacho

Simon - It does, thanks a lot for the speedy reply. I totally agree that they need using in moderation. Have you ever tried fiddling with the post-crop vignette in LR? I devised a way of doing a dark border that can work well on some shots. As a starting point, try this, working downwards:

Amnt -75
Mid 33
Round -90
Fthr 41

Save as a Preset if you like it.

Barnaby Aldrick - Yeah – I’ve already created some selective (ie. only effect the vignette and nothing else) post crop border presets, that add white round corners & the likes. The overlay ‘filmic’ templates are great, especially combined with scratchy overlay textures. Cheers for the tip though. I’ll give your formula a pop!

Anne-Sophie & Richard // Wedding in Klingenthal, France – by Barnaby Aldrick

Last weekend I was lucky enough to shoot another foreign wedding in France!  This time I flew solo to the Alsace, around the France/Germany/Swiss border. I’ve known Rich for years & flew out a few days early to hang out and sample the local cuisine.  Rich and Anne-So (who’s French) used to race the rats…

Back in March, Clare & I popped in to see our pals Mel & Phil & their adorable one week old, Holly. I took my camera to take a few snaps. Awww – like a real foot, but BABY! I love how babies copy what they see.  Look at Holly’s ace expression. Yesterday, 6 months…
