After our 80s dinner party Clare & I joined our pals Jules & Tom at their pad in Leeds for a Mad Men themed 1950s dinner party. If you’ve never seen it, it’s a wicked show about Madison Avenue advertising execs as the 50s turned into the 60s. It’s a fantastically styled, beautifully lit period…

A couple of weeks back we had our pals Jules & Tom over for an 80s dinner party. I’m not 100% sure why we decided to do it, but it was loads of fun. As a child of the 80s it was lots of fun sourcing retro dishes & products. When our pals arrived we…
I shuddered at the thought of drinks being left or spilt on your mac book…
Mmmmmmm….babycham. I am definitely having a few of them with my curry tonight!
Last week, my buddies at The Wardrobe in Leeds asked join them for a special gig to photograph Arrested Development. These guys have been in the game since 1992, and are best known for Mr Wendal & People Everyday, but have been pumping out albums ever since. I was excited to hear what they had…
Great shots as ever, I’m gutted I missed this. I first got the debut album on cassette, then CD, MP3 and now I listen to it on Spotify, a total classic. Must check out the new stuff.
I wouldn’t say I’m big into the back-scratching world of recommending suppliers to my wedding clients. I don’t have a page on my site that recommends particular florists / bands / hair & makeup artists etc. However, I’ve been in this game for a while now and have met some really interesting individuals and businesses…
Ooh thanks Barnaby (not sure why you felt compelled to include a pic of me but I’ll let it go!!). I’m sure Lesley will also love to hear she’s become my business partner!!
Seriously though, thanks for your help at the teach in, it was v helpful and thanks for the fabulous (as ever) pics. Brian loves the one of Oscar!
xx
A good while back I posted a sweet little video by Sam O’Hare of a day in the life in New York, the first video I’d seen featuring a miniature ‘toy town’ effect (post here). If you’ve not seen or heard about it, it’s called the Sandpit and can be seen here. It rightfully won the…
Last Saturday was my girlfriend Clare’s 30th birthday. We like a bit of fancy dress action once in a while (don’t read into that too much), so she organised a joint party with our pal Kinsey with an ambiguous ‘TV/Movie/Superhero/whatever-you-fancy’ theme. Anyhoos – I’ve a photobooth I set up for clients at weddings. It’s basically…
Oh my goodness, what a fantastic range of costume pictures. Alot of credit must go to the photographer and models alike, all did a great job.
[...] but it sadly wasn’t anywhere near ready so we had our fancy dress party at Lazy Lounge (fancy dress pics here!). In fact, the finishing touches were literally being added to the room the night before our [...]

Readers of this blog may know that I love the look of images shot with Tilt-Shift Lenses. I’ve even got a tilt-shift photo & video app on my iPhone. I wrote a post about them back along (post here) about how a wedding photographer called Jonas Peterson uses them to creative merit in his work At…
Do it.
Awesome! You got a death wish jumping around on a cliff like that?! Epic shot though
[...] to know it it in Marrakesh last week. As a major fan of the tilt-shift lens look (see blog post here), I was particularly interested in & impressed by the ‘Miniature mode’ (which works [...]

Like the lone ranger in a spaghetti western, photographers drop out of a solitary existence to dip into the lives of others lives to shoot at stuff. At least it sounds kinda cool that way. [and yup - that is me above, in a Nepalese town in the Himalayas back in 1998] In reality we spend 5+ days…
Rockin’ pics! Looking forward to your tilt shift post
Great post that brings back soooo many funny memories! Awesome shots too Mr Barnaby! Next GTG is already in the planning, Yeah baby I can’t wait!!
Fantastic. A brilliant summing up of why networking is so important (it’s not at all just about generating trade). I’m gutted I couldn’t make it myself; the last one gave me massive reassurance that there are plenty of simply decent, down to earth and generous souls populating the field.
Wonderful write-up and absolutely superb photographs as always Barnaby! Gutted I missed this GTG – there’s no chance I’m missing out on the next one!
[...] blogged last years session here if you’d like a nosey at the images. I just looked back at them & it was a great get [...]
On Friday I was lucky enough to join Emily & Martin for their wedding in York. It was such an awesome day, so let me show you through the highlights. [Though if you'd like to see the wedding highlights slideshow, set to their first dance music, skip down to the bottom] I joined the lovely…
I was just digging out some pics from the working folder of my computer and stumbled upon two photos I created while doing some urbex a while back. They were an experimentation in creating light trails with torches during long exposures. Basically, I set up the camera on a tripod in an already quite dark…
Very nice! When at Bolton Abbey last I tried getting the soft blury water photo that everyone seems to take. Unfortunately they kept coming out over-exposed. I think it was the fact that it was a sunny day. Might have a go at light trails next!
