The reason things’ve been a little quiet on the blog of late (my humblest apologies, dear readers!), is because I’ve been up on the Isle of Arran, off the Western coast of Scotland (read: ‘the middle of nowhere’) hanging out with some pals & shooting a music video! Clare, my pal Reeko & I headed…

Yesterday I posted stills I shot in Marrakesh on my new toy, the Canon IXUS 1000HS. Well as well as tasty 10 megapixel JPEGs (sadly there’s no RAW functionality in the IXUS ‘fun’ line-up), this little player has been specifically designed with HD video in mind. Check out the 16:9 format screen & dedicated record…
This is very cool, you should start shooting weddings with this beast! Really love the stuff you shot from above, it really does look like a model. This made me wanna dig out my tagine!
What fun it looks like you had here! Great video!
Liking this a lot dude…
In anticipation to a November break to Marrakesh in Morocco, I spent a good while trying to decide between Canon’s latest, greatest compact offerings, the Powershot S95 & the IXUS 1000HS. To cut a long story short, I bought this badboy… And it was loads of fun getting to know it it in Marrakesh last…
Earlier this summer I shot the wedding of Emma & Matt at the lovely East Riddlesdon Hall near Keighley. Their big day was ace fun, shooting in & around the amazing National Trust building, beautiful lake and manicured topiary Since then I’ve been approached by the National Trust to become a recommended supplier there! It…
Warning: This might be the geekiest post ever to some. And yet to others, it’ll be borderline arousing. You have been warned… The camera I shoot my weddings on, the Canon 5DmkII, shook the world of cinematography by including the option to shoot outstanding ‘Full Frame’ (ie. 35mm sensor size) full HD video. This kind…
I like the 5d 2 rig. Of course you can pull focus without it, but you wont get any where near the precision with out your gear. I would like to buy it myself, will have to look on ebay! I will be very interested to hear how your videoing came out with the new gear.
Barnaby Aldrick, you’re just far too damn talented, creative and clever by far! I’ve become a regular visitor to your web site since you photographed my sons wedding (Martin & Emily in October) and i’m amazed how all the wedding pictures on your web site capture the moment. So a very, very, very big thank you.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished final article.
Also enjoyed all the other weddings you captured as well as the Marrakesh escapade/assignment and the 5d 2 rig. I think the relevance of every picture tells a story’ comes to the fore. The running commentary you provide with each photo element is certainly very effective and adds to the viewing enjoyment.
Recognition no less by the National Trust too….like i said earlier, just too damned talented! Keep up the excellent work, thoroughly enjoy browsing your website.
Now where did I put my EOS 400 (ok so its not a 5D but as you said it’s the creative side of the photographer that matters) who knows where it might lead to!
Kind Regards
Richard
We had a little visitor yesterday… My mum’s pal, Hilary (my class one teacher at primary school!) brought round her 9 week old Sheltie pup Percy to say hello. I said for her to bring him round for a few pics of him while he was still wee. Look how cute he is! He’s joined…
Hi Barnaby, I remember you in Leeds 20+ years ago (sorry to embarrass you). Hilary and I have remained friends over many years of me living overseas. She just sent me the link. They are FANTASTIC pictures. Thanks for taking them for Hilary and good luck with your career. Blessings from New Zealand.
Any of you iPhone users use Passcode Lock to get into your phone? Smart thinking! Then if someone pinches your phone they can’t use it! Huzzah! Fight crime with brains! Furthermore – If you’re a mobile me subscriber, you can log in & use the ‘find my iPhone‘ feature (which works with iPad’s too) and…
Thanks for the above – very clever and WHEN I get an iPhone will definitely have a play!
After the busy summer madness it feels like a while since I did a pre-wedding meet with a couple! But last Sunday I joined up with Rob & Rita at Bagden Hall in Scissett, West Yorkshire for their venue recce & practice photoshoot. It was an ominously misty autumn day and my subjects were suitably…
