Last weekend I shot Angie & Chris’s wedding at Hey Green, a fabulous venue deep in the rolling Yorkshire countryside.  The week previous I’d been posting about how summer’d come and showed all those suns on a BBC weather screendump.  Well, mother nature’s mood had changed somewhat when I did the ol’ morning forcast…

Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Heavy Rain, Heavy Rain, Heavy Rain. Joy

“Cool and showery”.  She must’ve known my friend Phil Barber had two weddings under giant open Teepees that weekend.

Anyhoos, and to the point – weather wasn’t a problem and we managed a quick everyone shot in the drizzle, and ducked out for a quick portrait shoot as the rain lightened later.  I’ll be blogging this wedding once it’s processed, but wanted to sing their praises for choosing such an amazing song for their first dance, which looked like this…

They chose Elbow’s ‘One Day Like This’ to dance to, and even I couldn’t help but get stirred up in the spirit & crescendo.  I love Elbow and have only recently given their ‘Seldom Seen Kid’ album the airing it deserves.  I’m now a cracker digging through their back catalogue looking for a fix!  While they’re on the fringe of the big time, with ER & major car adverts, they still remain criminally undiscovered underdogs. Check out this live recording they did in Abbey Road.

“Cos holy cow, I love your eyes
And only now I see you like
Yeah, lying with me half-awake
Stumbling over what to say
Well, anyway, it’s looking like a beautiful day

So throw those curtains wide!
One day like this a year’d see me right!”
