A good while back I posted a sweet little video by Sam O’Hare of a day in the life in New York, the first video I’d seen featuring a miniature ‘toy town’ effect (post here). If you’ve not seen or heard about it, it’s called the Sandpit and can be seen here. It rightfully won the Prix Ars Electronica Award of Distinction 2010 for being dead good and that.
Basically, I loved it because, in the wave of the DSLR videography/fusion fun, I thought it was really creative to shoot video through tilt-shift lenses (as experimented with in yesterday’s blog). A little more research into how Sam shot the video revealed that neither video nor tilt-shit lenses were used in the shoot, but instead was shot on a Nikon D3 at 4 frames per second, edited together into a 25 frame per second movie (hence the jerky sped-up vibe), and the tilt-shift look was added in post production to make things look miniature and toy towny.

Anyhoos – the point of this blog is cos at the Randall Network meet someone mentioned they’d seen another similar tilt-shift video, and a little googling revealed that it was Mr O’Hare again, this time with a video shot at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Again, it’s ace. Check it out below:
