It’s kinda quiet time in the wedding world at the moment, so for a bit of a laugh yesterday, I hooked up with good buddy & excellent musician Dave Pilla, and we filmed a music video on my iPhone 4S. My dear rescue dog, Kyra, told me how much she likes dressing up.  Or at least I think she said ‘likes’.  That kinda stunned expression is a bit cryptic… Either way, as winter temperatures drop and with Christmas pending, I thought I’d treat her to a festive jumper from Equafleece - purveyors of finely-crafted dog-wear!  They’re not just snappy, but they’ve also got jazzy wicking & warming properties especially created for dogses! Yesterday, I was invited by Anthony Flinn Jr., of Anthony’s restaurants fame, to the Corn Exchange in Leeds to do some food photography. Slow-motion bonfire night fireworks // 240fps on the Canon 1000HS [By Barnaby Aldrick]

On bonfire night at the start of November, the family & girlfriends headed over to Roundhay Park bonfire to catch the firework display. I took over my trusty, battered Canon 1000HS and thought I’d try out the Super Slow Mo feature.  So I shot a selection of fireworks going off at 240 frames per second and have chopped it together in Final Cut Pro to the beautiful song ‘Daydreams’ by Abel Korzeniowski from the ‘A Single Man’ film soundtrack (yours for 69p from Amazon MP3 store here!) While the Canon 1000HS can record crispy full HD video, the resolution it outputs slow...

Dogs, Mist & Being Creative! // Hipstamatic Images [by Barnaby Aldrick]

 I was out walking K in the mist the other morning in Horseforth Park and ended up snapping a bunch of images using the hipstamatic app on my iPhone. I always thought that the best landscape photographers always owned dogs… …reason being, you pretty much have to walk the dog twice a day, pretty much whatever the weather. Book Cover // Faith In A Changing World [by Barnaby Aldrick Photography]

A pal who’s an ace photographer and, by trade, a graphic designer, got in touch a few weeks back to ask if they could use one of the travel images on a book they’re designing.  I was more than happy to oblige and here’s the finished cover! It’s ace to see one of my images used in such a way! Here’s the original image, shot in Cambodia outside the royal palace in Phnom Penh.  It was actually shot on a 3 megapixel fuji prosumer camera (the now archaic Fuji S5000) and I spent a while panning with (ie. tracking the movement of) passing...

Last week I posted a few images from our summer break to Turkey (post here).  I thought I’d also do a separate post of images shot on our visit to the ruins of Ephesus. Ephesus was once an ancient Greek city and later a major Roman city, on the west coast of Roman ‘Asia Minor’.  Most famous for housing the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World, but that sadly is no longer visible.  But its still easy to see what a formidable place it was in it’s heyday; home to more than 500,000 people, making...

This beautiful November morning a few pals & I ran the Abbey Dash - an annual 10km road race in aid of Age UK held in the heart of Leeds! They’re nothing spectacular, but I thought I’d share a few pics of the event I caught on my iPhone.We’ve done the Abbey Dash 3 times, before and we arrived as Nell McAndrew did her usual warm up. I host and organise a band night in Leeds called the Sunday Service.  It’s a free night at Verve bar in Leeds on the last Sunday of every month and our mantra is to champion the cream of the North’s singer songwriter talent and pay them in beer and pictures.  It’s always a great night where music fans come to respectfully listen to good music, and bands play all the better in that listening environment!
