Greetings! Well, I’ve been back from our three week January break in Australia for a good few days now and apart from getting some quality time in with the pooch, I’ve basically been chopping together a wee holiday video to remind us of our trip; taking in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Fraser Island. Check it out: The music is the beautiful ‘Hush’ by Aussy folk-duo ‘Angus & Julia Stone’ (track and album available to buy here) I was inspired by a post fellow snapper Cris Matthews pointed me to on f-stoppers.com (here), entitled ‘How a professional photographer should document a vacation’. It...

James Pearson - I smiled and laughed throughout the whole film. You shoot amazing moving pictures and your editing is wonderful! Way too many highlights, but I particularly liked the vineyard sign left and right (thumbs up) and your impression of Clare snoozing and chewing gum… and a million other clips. Looks like an amazing holiday.

G’day readers! Just a quick explanation for the radio silence, in case you’re wondering where the regular blogs have gone, or have tried to email … We’re off to Australia to catch up with our migrated mates, my Aussie family & to catch some winter sunburn! …think of me while I’m kindling here on Fraser Island! I’m looking forward to playing with my new Sony HX9v while I’m out there, so expect more enviable blue sky blogs on my return! Keep it creative peeps, B

Hey gang! May I wish you all a wonderful Christmas! (Christmas Kyra says hey too) Watch out for that festive food coma! May I take this opportunity to genuinely thank all of you who stop in to read my little photo blog. Some of you are upcoming clients, some are past clients who still enjoy check out my wedding images and some are prospectively hunting down their ideal wedding photographer. Others enjoy my Urban Explorations and pics of my pooch dressed as Star Wars characters; some are buddies of mine following links through my Facebook and Twitter feeds, and some are just...
Chris Jackson Photo - Well Done Barnaby. I for one, get quite excited when I see a blog post on twitter from yourself, you post some great inspirational shots for myself as a young gun getting into the wedding photography business.
Look forward to seeing what 2012 brings.
Chris

Last Friday, I went out with Clare’s work for their Xmas party to Brutus Gold’s Love Train, at the O2 Academy in Leeds It was the ‘Christmas Disco Ball’, and the perfect opportunity to get our fancy dress on! So before we hit the road I thought I’d snap our outfits for posterity… Clare was a jump-suited Disco Queen! …and I cobbled together a funky disco/cop outfit from the Tyler Durden fight club replica Soul Revolver jacket Clare bought me for my 30th, with selection of eBay auctions finds; including an original vintage 70′s shirt, sunfire sunnies & dubiously ginger...

It’s kinda quiet time in the wedding world at the moment, so for a bit of a laugh yesterday, I hooked up with good buddy & excellent musician Dave Pilla, and we filmed a music video on my iPhone 4S. Check it out: Pretty crazy what you can do with a phone eh?! For the geeks out there here’s how I did it: I took one iPhone 4S (which has a great little HD camera on it, though exposure is more manually controllable with the ProCamera App) clicked it into a Glif, a low profile iPhone fixing with a tripod attachment in...
Simon - Cracking effort! Nice song too.

I was out walking K in the mist the other morning in Horseforth Park and ended up snapping a bunch of images using the hipstamatic app on my iPhone. I always thought that the best landscape photographers always owned dogs… …reason being, you pretty much have to walk the dog twice a day, pretty much whatever the weather. Those photographers that live near somewhere truly beautiful and dramatic, eg. up in the dales/lakes/Scottish Highlands, end up walking their pooch in all the most dramatic weather conditions. If they have a camera with ‘em (which any self-respecting photographer should), then they...

Michelle Ross - Dude – I have the Hipstamtic app on my iPad, thanks to you. I aspire to take pictures as good as yours one day!! I LOVE these images! xx
Barnaby Aldrick - Fantastic! Get it used Michelle. The secret is not showing anyone the rubbish ones… But that’s between me & you. x

This beautiful November morning a few pals & I ran the Abbey Dash - an annual 10km road race in aid of Age UK held in the heart of Leeds! They’re nothing spectacular, but I thought I’d share a few pics of the event I caught on my iPhone. We’ve done the Abbey Dash 3 times, before and we arrived as Nell McAndrew did her usual warm up. Here’s our team before the race! With around 8,000 runners it has been voted as one of the top three road races in the UK by Runners World Magazine, and it raises an amazing...
Kirsten - Well done Barnaby and Clare!! I’m impressed and inspired! Maybe running a 10k could be a New Year resolution…. mmm we’ll see x

I’ve a couple of pals who I like to go Urban Exploring with. Basically we nosey round disused abandoned buildings and take photographs. You can see some of the UrbEx posts on my blog here. Anyhoos – I’ve been so busy this summer shooting cool weddings up and down the country that I’ve not had chance to do a great deal of photography for myself (as shown in the predominance of wedding and pre-wedding only posts on the blog of late!). So the UrbEx boys & I decided to go do some night shooting & get creative. James P Lester had wanted to do some...
Kirsten - Loving the use of ambient and flash light… another great blog!!
I almost totally forgot to blog about this! Just before the wedding season kicked off, Clare & I decided to take our lovely new dog Kyra on her first holiday! So off we set to Northumberland, with Kyra keeping her eye out for oncoming danger. Clare had looked up ‘Glamping’ online for a spot of GLAMourous CamPING, and look what we found! Pimp wooden teepee type structures in Seahouses (website here) So in we settled, filling the fridge with BBQ fodder & vino … …and quickly hit the beach to smile proudly at Kyra’s first experience in the sea. It was...

Christopher Campbell - Some of those shots were just amazing. I’ve heard lots about Northumberland, but have never actually been. This makes me want to go with my camera now too! Good work, as always
Chris Milner - Wow man, I never knew all that was there, and not that far up North either! The cow shot is fantastic haha. Definitely one for the holiday list, you got lucky with the weather there!
Barnaby Aldrick - Cheers boys! Yeah it was cracking up there. With the sun out on the white sand, pics look borderline tropical!

After the Munich blog post I put up last week, I thought I’d share a few more pics from my recent visit… I joined a few mates there to celebrate a pal’s 30th Birthday. Someone had said to met it was a bit industrial, but I found it an amazing place. Though I’m easily swayed… Any city selling hotdogs on every corner is good with me! Especially when the mustard matched my trainers. It reminded me of all the Wursts Clare & I ate when we visited Berlin in December 2009 (blog post here) Check out the ol’ health and...
