Yesterday I joined Sarah & Paul for their wedding photography on the tops of Saddleworth, at The Talking Point, a former Church in Scouthead & Clough Manor in Denshaw.

I hope you enjoy the story of their wedding day!

The Pennines were thick with misty drizzly on the way over, and the forecast had been playing silly buggers all week.

After a week of glorious summer sunshine, mother nature decided a thunderbolt was in order!  Fortunately, an apocalyptic storm landed more on Friday night than Saturday day and it was great to have the weather clear from the afternoon wedding reception onwards!

So I joined the bridal party at Sarah’s family home in Moorside, where pampering & champering was taking place…

I know Sarah from years back, when we were both waiters at a restaurant in Leeds.  Sarah was studying for Law and I saving to travel after my degree in Psychology.

FYI: LOML: Love Of My Life. Aww.

This might be my favourite pic of the day.

I personally think this lady’s work is done

😉

It’s always nice to get a few details of the wedding bits and bobs, including this stunnging gown from the Bridal Path in Altringham…

…the distinctive red soles of Mr Leboutin…

…the lovely pastel roses & gypsum bouquets by Four Seasons Florist in Saddleworth

…and something old, borrowed and blue from a special Auntie & Uncle. Three birds, two stones.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Cheers!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Sarah bought a sweet little gift for dad to remember this day by…

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

A keyring saying “Dad, you will always be the first man I ever loved!”

Aww.  I like moments like this.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Meanwhile, a short drive over the Oldham hills, in the delightfully named Grotton, the chaps were getting their game faces on.

I sent my 2nd shooter wing woman, Natasha Cadman to investigate…

Teamleader Paul was rocking a brilliant self tied pink Bow Tie!

I love a real bow time. I’ve a few myself.

Meanwhile at the girls, the ancient 1948 mkV Jag had arrived and sat patiently in the drizzle, while the girls were gowning up.

Foxy ladies!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Time to rock and roll.  And yep, still raining!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Sarah always was going to make a beautiful bride.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

And after hearing that the old Jag had wheezed to a halt and broken down outside the church after dropping off the first run, we quickly got the best man to whizz over in Paul’s Jag to collect us!  Convenient colour too!

The wedding ceremony was hosted in a place in Oldham called The Talking Point, a conference and exhibition centre in the converted St. Paul’s Church, Scouthead.

Wedding ceremonies are hosted up in the eves.

Little ‘flower princess’ Lilly was waiting patiently at the door for Sarah.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Here comes the bride!

A quick confetti tunnel through the drizzle to the now fixed Jag!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

The weather cleared on the way to Clough Manor, so we took advantage and got straight down to a few relaxed portraits.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

These two make a handsome pair eh?

Then we dived on the groupshots, for which the sun actually put his hat on!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

I like to get a bit more creative with the wedding party teamshots.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

The wedding meal room was all set for speeches before the meal

Then there was plenty of time for mingles and fun in the evening sunshine

As we had a bit of time before the first dance, a different quality of light to play in and had discovered a nice path up the hill, we did a 2nd round of evening portraits.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

For all the shutterbugs out there, I’d actually borrowed a lens I don’t usually use for weddings, the Canon 135mm f2.0 from my good pal Joe Stenson. I used it instead of the bulky 70-200 f2.8 IS, and while slightly restrictive in focal length, I love the look of the images it produces at f2.0.  Love how sharp it locks on, while producing beautiful blurry elements in the trees like in the images above.

Whether I’ll purchase one to replace the 70-200 is in the air!

Reet – geeking over!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Always nice to get a 2nd round of portraits where possible.

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Then it was back to the evening reception to cut the cake

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

And first dance to Sam Cooke’s ‘Nothing Can Change This Love’

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

Then it was party time!

Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,Clough Manor Wedding Photography,The Clough Denshaw Wedding Saddleworth,Saddleworth Weddiing Photographer,Yorkshire Wedding Photographer,

And so, as the sun set over Saddleworth, we bid our farewells and headed back to Leeds.

Fabulous to see an old friend get married and to be involved in such a lovely day. Massive congratulations to Sarah & Paul and here’s hoping you have a fab honeymoon and a wonderful life together!

All the very best,

Barnaby & Natasha
