Greetings y’all! I thought I’d posted this post last week, but in it would seem evidently not. So here it is for ye now.
A couple of weekends back I shot 2 pre-wedding shoots with upcoming couples at Yorkshire’s best preserved and beautifully positioned Abbeys. The first was at Bolton Abbey over in the Dales with Rachel & Iain (post here) for a serious couple of hour stroll, then I zipped “o’er’t tops”, with doubtful but devout faith in TomTom, and popped up here…
…at Fountains Abbey – one of the awesome ancient Abbey’s Henry VIII knocked down cos he was pissed with the pope for not letting him get a divorce.
May I introduce my next victims! Drumroll please! My old school pal Dave Turney & his lovely fiancé Erica!
It had been a beautiful day and I’d been burning round the Dales with the MG top down. The evening sun wasn’t any less stunning eh?
It was really lovely to get Erica & Dave in front of the camera.
I’m not sure Erica was 100% comfortable and Dave was so lovely with her, checking she was ok and being really considerate.
I’ve always wanted to visit Fountains Abbey, all the more so since reading about the mad world and power of mediaeval Abbeys in Ken Follit’s ‘World Without End‘. If you’ve not read ‘Pillars of the Earth‘ or ‘World Without End’ – they’re serious breezeblocks, but fascinating reads (and available on amazon.co.uk marketplace from 1p if you click the previous links!)
Fountains Abbey is one of the best preserved of the lot & somehow I’ve never been.
One of the best things about this Abbey is the mental vaulted Cellarium. Wicked eh?
Quite a lot of it’s still standing proud, against a springy blue sky.

That evening Dave, Erica, Clare & I all went out to Gaucho in Leeds for dinner and it was ace catching up again.
I can’t wait to join them for their big day in Reading in April. It’s all set to be sweet.
