I recently headed out to Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough to meet Julia & Paul ahead of their wedding at Priory Cottages in Syningthwaite near Wetherby in a few weeks.

After a quick drink in The Wine Press on the lakeside to catch up on the big day logistics…

…we set out for their practice portrait shoot!

I basically make all my couples squirm through a round of practice pictures a month or so before their wedding to show them how it feels to be photographed!

For some it’s a painful experience, for others it’s great fun.  Either way, it shows upcoming brides and grooms not only how it feels, but what I’m looking for from them…

…which is essentially a bit of close body contact, and to try to relax together in spite of how contrived it all feels!

Julia & Paul were great together and it was a brilliant opportunity to also touch base with them both and get to know them a little better ahead of the big day.

I like to think the whole process builds a bit more trust and faith in the process, and shows Julia & Paul that it’s one less thing to worry about for the big day.

After a wander round in the woods, we headed back to the lakeside for a final few pics in the evening sun.

I’m really looking forward to joining these guys in a few weeks, so stay tuned for their official wedding highlights, which’ll be up a day or so after the big day!
