Last week I joined Julia & Harvey for their pre-wedding shoot at The Royal Horticultural Societies Harlow Carr Gardens near Harrogate.

I’d not actually met these guys before, as – rather rarely – they’d booked without having met me.  I generally meet all my clients before they book to check we’re all on the same page.  So when these guys wandered up and waved, I wasn’t entirely sure whether to wave back.  Especially considering they’d brought their daughter Olivia along to enjoy the fun and games…

But like all things truly British, confusing social etiquette was ironed out over a nice cup of tea in the Betty’s tea rooms and it was lovely to catch up and hear their plans for their wedding in August around the beautiful Fountains Abbey near Ripon.

Afterwards, we hit the gardens for the practice photoshoot, which is fundamentally a great opportunity to put a wedding couple at ease before their big day…

Olivia & my idea about making Julia & Harvey jump on a slope turned into a bit of a fail!

But we soon got the hang of it!

I loved finding these backgrounds of block colour to do headshots against!  Purple was a winner…

…as were the orange & creams

Hobbiton much!?

It was great fun catching up with these guys at Harlow Carr, and I’m now all the more excited about joining them at the brilliant fountain’s abbey in August!
