Today I’m at the wedding fair at The Priory in Syningthwaite (try saying ‘Syningthwaite’ fast twice!)

I shot these puppies on my iPhone when I arrived this morning (with the cunning Hipstematic iPhone app)

The Priory is basically a wicked new wedding/events venue deep the fields of North Yorkshire surrounded by ace holiday cottages and an ancient Priory building.  It was once derelict & run down & is now a super stylish events space, decorated to an extremely high spec; ideal for a wedding you can put our own mark on.  It’s also a family run business run by a super helpful & enthusiastic bunch.  (Check out a great review of it on the Boho Weddings & Events site here.)

Anyhoos – I thought as I was here I’d post a few pics from the last wedding we shot there (quite possibly our fave wedding this year); the wedding of Jo & Joe.

[You can check out their full wedding blog here]

As always with all my weddings, we’d met up at the venue to do a cheeky ‘pre-wedding shoot’ to scope the location out for spots to use on the day, and to help them get used to being photographed (check out their pre-wedding blog post here).

These two were a breeze to snap, and we had a great time messing about in front of the cool backgrounds around the Priory.

Love this old doorway!

Another wicked backdrop I spotted on the way up the long drive was a sea of poppies.

So we climbed in!  Looks like some kinda NEXT catalogue shoot!

Apart from a nosey round the grounds at their practice pre-wedding shoot, it was the first wedding I’d photographed at The Priory, and I was really impressed with it. It’s struck the perfect balance of boutique charm, exclusivity & fantastically-finished cottages to stay in.

Here’s a few highlights from their actual wedding day:

I love this shot of Jo getting into her beautiful wedding gown in the Priory Cottages

This casual shot of the girls before they headed for their ceremony at Leeds Cathedral is lovely and natural

After there ceremony, back at the Priory guests mingled out in the sunshine enjoying some tasty canapés…

…while we snuck off for a quick portrait shoot!

One of the relaxed group shots of the wedding party

The wedding breakfast marquee and cake looked the business!  Jo & Joe had around 200 guests at their reception and everyone had a fantastic time.

That awesome chocolate cake was supplied by Mamma Doreen’s cupcake company.

…and I’m actually on a stand next to her today, and these cupcakes are calling me, like siren’s to the rocks

After a late dinner, and just before speeches, I noticed that the sun outside was just about to drop beneath the horizon, so I asked the jo’s if they were game for another quick spin and we got some absolute crackers.

This was probably my fave image of the day

After plenty of Jagers all round, it didn’t take long to fill the dance floor

Rhythmatic played their evening music & did a fantastic job of rocking the house with funky covers.

Then just before we left I caught this cheeky shot of granny & her pal sat watching on as guests mingled under a dusky blue sky.

So if you’re looking for an ace venue for your wedding that you can put your own personal mark on, make sure you check out The Priory!
