Last weekend I headed up to one of my fave restaurants up in the Dales, The Angel Inn to hook up with……the lovely Laura & Nick, who’s wedding I’m shooting there in November! It was a stunning Autumnal day……and in the villages on route were mui tranquillo.

My mum’s always had a ridiculous knowledge of restaurants called the ‘Something’ at ‘Somehwhere’, which was generally passed down to her from her foodie parents.

The Angel at Hetton is one of the ones I learnt from her early on; a cosy Inn known for miles around for it’s incredible food and immense wine list. It’s also super pretty when adorned with the Autumnal Ivy

We’ve photographed a wedding there before in their Wine Cave over the road (check out the highlights blog here

In November it’s these guys turn to be wed here!

I use these practice ‘pre-wedding’ shoots to help get a couple used to being photographed in advance of their wedding day.

I’d always rather they learn how to loosen up in front of the camera before the day than during their wedding portrait shoot!

Plus we get to scout out a few funky spots we can use again on their big dayAnd I get to gauge how comfy they are with a bit of public affection!

These guys seemed fine with that!

I always prefer to catch a couple laughing or smiling at one another, but sometimes it’s nice to do the odd ‘serious’ one too.I like trying to set the context into the pics too, and we all loved this village wall/postbox scene!

(No gold medal athletes in Hetton it seems)

I actually went to school with these two, and I believe they were in the year below me.

I’d photographed another school pal of our’s wedding earlier this year for Katie & Nick at Priory Cottages (blog here)

Laura actually runs her own professional wedding cake business under the name Cook and Cake!

She created Katie & Nick’s amazing travel-themed, suitcase cake was a wedding gift!

The detailing was immense, and even the passports were edible!

Bit of a more unusual composition on this one

After thoroughly loosening up and more than satisfying me in terms of being cool in front of the camera, we headed back to the car…

…only to find Laura had specially baked us some cupcake treats!

Chocolate and Erdinger wheat-beer pretzel cupcakes!??  #NomWin

And while we were up there, Clare & I decided it’d be rude not to stay for lunch!

Bring on November!
