Yesterday, I headed to the border of Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire to join Louise & Paul at Stubton HallĀ for a catch up, a brew and for their practice photoshoot!

Stubton is a place I’ve never had the pleasure of photographing at before and before heading down I read that it’s been voted one of the top 100 wedding venues in the world! Ā I was understandably excited and even on a traditionally cold and overcast British day, it didn’t disappoint! Ā  It was such a beautiful, unspoilt setting, withĀ 24 acres of gardens and grounds, and grand high-ceilinged rooms with bursting with period charm & interior design flair…

The vegetarian’s aren’t always so keen, but personally I think anywhere with antlers on the walls is good with me!

I want a set on which to hang my growing collection of tweed jackets…

I love the way the place has been dressed – Apparently the lady in the painting above had her bottom out, so to preserve her dignity she’s been given a sarong!

One of these rooms is called the white room.

I can’t for the life of me work out which one it is.

After a good nosey around, we got down to business: The practice shoot!

I like to put all my couples through a real world photoshoot to get them used to the experience of being in front of my camera. Ā That way, they know what I’m looking for, are confident I can make them look ace & learn it can be a good laugh; but fundamentally, it makes the official portraits quicker on their big day, so they can get back to the party and enjoy the bubbles and canapes!

On the South terrace is a 300 foot water feature!

I love this sequence – ironing the awkwardness out of public displays of affection take a bit practice!

These guys were more than relaxed in front of the camera and clearly enjoy each other’s company!

In spite of the opulent surroundings, this rusty container caught my eye as a fun background.

It was great to catch up with Louise & Paul and to check out their awesome wedding venue! Now I’m super giddy about their big day in April!
