I recently joined Tracey & Matt for their pre-wedding practice shoot at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds, ahead of their wedding next weekend at Middleton Lodge near Richmond
It was great to catch up on the big day plans, and take a wander around Kirkstall Abbey with them both in the sunshine.
These shoots are all about getting my upcoming wedding couples comfortable in front of the camera, and to show them how it feels to be papped by me!
Essentially I like to keep things entertaining and relaxed, as I do when shooting the weddings.
In my experience, to capture a couple looking relaxed, it takes more than just letting them stand together. It takes getting used to the experience to iron out any awkwardness or anxiety, ahead of the wedding.
A bit of messing about is always helpful!
As is being a little bit serious…
Plus, a smooch is usually called upon along the way!
Although I don’t strictly ‘pose’ my couples during portrait shoots, I like them to place them together somewhere and let them freestyle.
Clearly Matt has moves!
😉
Fundamentally, having done this ahead of the wedding not only builds trust, but also makes the shoot quicker on the day! So more time for fizz, canapes and hobnobbing!
Win win, I say!
Bring on the big day at Middleton Lodge on Friday… [and stay tuned for a blog of highlights on Sunday!]
