Priory Barn & Cottages, Wedding and Events Venue: Truly one of Yorkshire’s best barn wedding venues

Priory Cottages is a wonderful rural wedding venue on a working farm in the West Yorkshire countryside near Wetherby, bang in the middle of that golden triangle – Leeds, York and Harrogate.

I’ve always loved documenting the fun of a big day, set around the ancient 12th century Syningthwaite Priory.

The barn and boutique cottages provide a stunning backdrop for wedding photos, with an ace balcony to throw confetti over even if Yorkshire’s throwing it down outside!

I’ve shot here over 20 times now and there’s nothing like seeing guests enjoying a few sherbets on the courtyard terrace in the Summer sun!

I’ve seen Serena and the Rawlings family take Priory Cottages from a small farm wedding venue to a serious, professional machine – and yet they still manage to strike that perfect balance of personal-yet-well-organised at every wedding.

The marquee is a versatile space, where couples can even choose the colour of the carpet! The seven beautifully-furnished, self-catering cottages also guarantee to wow the guests – and after a long night lighting up the dancefloor, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to a comfy nights sleep!

I’ve been a Priory Cottages wedding photographer for many years now and have been fortunate to shoot lots of weddings at this wonderful venue.

Barnaby captured the day perfectly with real reactions and moments which transport us back to the day instantly. Not only were we totally in awe of them but they are loved by all of our friends and family who echo the same sentiment. Aside from the photos is Barnaby himself who does everything to put you at ease during the day and lead up to the wedding. Barnaby was friendly and helpful at the pre trial photoshoot and immediately made us both feel comfortable - hard to do given how awkward I feel in front of cameras. He asked us for a list of essential photos and ensured he got each one. Barnaby was also very adaptable when we decided to go for a bounce on a bouncy castle hosted by a local charity. He brought a joyful and confident energy to the wedding day and we were much calmer knowing he had it covered. At our pre-wedding shoot he was great at getting us to feel comfortable in front of the camera (not an easy task), and we left the pre-shoot feeling confident about the running of the day and that Barnaby had a good understanding of the moments we were hoping to capture. On the day itself Barnaby was a huge help in getting things to run smoothly, making sure we had the right people in the right place to get the shots that we wanted. He was great with our children and got some fantastic shots of the kids having fun, in addition to some beautiful family shots and candid moments throughout the day. We cannot recommend Barnaby enough, we thought that the pre wedding photo shoot was great but the photos we've had back on the wedding blog have not only captured every detail of our day but the whole vibe and emotions. We cannot believe how we never even saw you taking most of these.  There are so many wonderful natural shots. As a couple who don't normally like to be photographed you put us at ease and captured us having a brilliant day, as well as getting all the formal shots we asked for.
