Yesterday I joined Olivia + Jack for their country house wedding in Yorkshire at Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham, between Leeds and Wetherby!
We landed so lucky with a crisp, sunny Autumnal day! Bowcliffe Hall, a frankly marvellous Grade II listed Georgian stack, makes for a fab location whatever the weather. I just love the cheeky sense of humour & stylish details from the Golden Age of Motoring dotted throughout. I see something new, amusing and charming every time I visit!
I found the girls in the Morning Room, where Olivia & her mum were cracking their daily wordle! Sunshine streamed in as the girls were pampered and enjoyed a glass of fizz. My wingman Matt met the boys in The Bowcliffe Drivers Club to finish suiting up and for a spot of JD flavoured dutch courage from their wedding hipflasks.Â
Soon two lovely little flower girls joined the action, Olivia donned her impressively customised Rembo Styling wedding gown, and before we knew it the clock struck noon and it was time for the the civil ceremony in the light and airy Bowcliffe Room. Not long later we headed out to the front portico for congratulatory cuddles, a quick tunnel of confetti and quick family groups, before guests headed to the Drivers Club’s south-facing Terrace for nibbles and drinks. The newlyweds and I took sunny turn via the tiny chapel and through the gorgeous formal gardens to join the guests for a nice long reception mingle.Â
Continuing the relaxed theme, as they settled down for the wedding meal in the Ballroom – complete with 23.5 carat gold gilded chandelier, hand blocked wallpaper and an art deco bar – the brides father and groom delivered the world’s quickest thank you speeches, and guests tucked into a delicious lamb dinner! We were lucky enough to enjoy it too, and as always, Bowcliffe’s food is as stylish as the venue!
Afterwards, as sunlight turned golden, we wandered down to the Blackburn Wing – a giant metal treehouse shaped like an aeroplane wing – and got a lovely extra set of portraits. Meanwhile, the ballroom was turned around and the oak dance floor revealed, and we were back in, to cut the stunning cake (that Olivia and her mum had made themselves!). The first dance launched the evening’s dancefloor shenanigans – stopping only for celebratory cigars and a final flash portrait on in the portico – before leaving them to it!
It was such a wonderful day all round, brilliantly managed by Brooke, Paul and the professional Bowcliffe team!
So enough chat already! Grab a cup of nice Yorkshire Tea (or a glass of fizz if you’re passed the yardarm) and enjoy my story of pics from Olivia + Jack’s fab day at Bowcliffe Hall…
