And we’re off! Weddings are back on again! Whoop whoop!
And what better way to kick off the season again by travelling up to Western Scotland to join Grace, Ben and their lovely party people for their wedding at Carrick Castle Estate Lodge!
Everything about this special day was bang on – from the relaxed preparations in a grand-design-like wood-beamed luxury self-catering lodge, saying ‘I do’ with bagpipes ringing out over the peaceful, sunny Loch Goil, a host of impressive kilts and a gorgeous wedding gown (with pockets!), a delicious Scottish Beef dinner in a beautifully decorated rustic Barn, and finishing off before covid curfew with scotch and wood-fired haggis pizza round the fire-pit! The whole kit and caboodle. And as the guestlist had to be shrunk to meet Covid Compliance, I’ll also be joining them for an evening reception at Northern Monk Brewery in Leeds next year! Nothing less than a piss up in a brewery!
Grace + Ben make a lovely pair and a great team – the wedding details and design was definitely a joint effort. It was so lovely hanging out with their family and friends. Some of whom I’d seen before, as I photographed Grace’s sister’s fun wedding to Russell in 2018 at Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire. Always awesome to see some old (and new baby!) faces again. One of whom had his second birthday the day after the wedding!
After a fab road trip to Skye last year and many road trip pilgrimages to Islay with Whisky pals, there’s always been a special place in my heart for Scotland. It lights up as I pass through Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. So, for this adventure it’s been brilliant to also bring my my wife, pooch & 1yr old, to explore further into Argyll Forest Park and Scotland’s West coast and stay on for a week of exploration!
I couldn’t have been made to feel more special at this wedding and am already enjoying the 12yr old bottle of beautiful Caol Ila Scotch Ben + Grace gave me! My heart (and dram) overfloweth!
You couldn’t really ask for more from a Scottish destination wedding as you’ll see in their beautiful wedding highlights slideshow below…
I’ll be uploading their full set of images to a password protected client area in just a few weeks, so if you’d like to be notified when all their images go live, register your interest at: https://clients.barnabyaldrick.com/GraceAndBen

What a lovely day hey?!
It was also kinda awesome that Holly (Grace’s lovely sister, who’s wedding I also did) shot and sent a bunch of pics of me in action
Including this heartwarming moment when Ben personally thanked me during the speeches and presented me with a bottle of Caol Isla 12 Islay Scotch Whisky!
I couldn’t believe it really! Such a kind touch.
So here we go! To have and to hold!
I’d like to raise a dram to this lovely pair and wish them a fantastic new life together in Edinburgh with their lovely cats, and a fab minimoon at the lovely Ardnasaig hotel on Loch Awe!
Big love x
