Yesterday I photographed the most excellent wedding of Clare & Rob at Holdsworth House Hotel near Halifax.

They put all sorts of thought into fun things to do over the day; like the amazing letters they brought for the wedding party shot above, a whiteboard & false noses for the photobooth we did in the evening, not to mention the magician, beautiful flora, string quartet & funky evening band… the list went on & the spirit of fun ran throughout.

Holdsworth House looked glorious as I arrived.  I’d photographed their pre-wedding practice shoot there (with their dogs!) a few weeks previous (check it here).

I liked this one of the goings on in the room when I arrived…

And this one a little later as Clare enjoyed a spot of bubbly in the make-up chair.

Clare’s bridesmaids were a right bunch of nutters.  Fun mentalists, who sang, danced & laughed their way through the day.

I quite liked this unusual crop of Clare’s Gina treads

Clamping in the tiaraThe dress was a thing of beauty!
On the front door of the hotel were some pionies by Firenza Floral Design.

I just love Lesley & Fiona’s work.  So beautiful.

Check out the awesome bouquet!

And the wedding ceremony room looked fab, all floralled & candled by Firenza & with pretty purple chair backs by Helen & Ros at Attention to Detail venue dressers.

As well as hanging photographs on ribbons from a tree outside, Clare & Rob had various little twiggy photo hangers around the hotel, featuring pics of guests.

I had along with me my photo homie Pete Boyd on 2nd shooter duties.  He’s an ace photographer and we always have a giggle shooting together.

I like this shot Pete caught of Rob practicing his speech at his best man’s digs in the morning.

Soon after, he and the groomsmen hit a local pub for breakfast.

The Full English, a fine way to kick off a wedding day!

Clare gave Rob a beautiful engraved hipflask as a wedding day gift…

And in return, received flowers & some vintage bubbly, along with this lovely note.

I liked this snap of Rob & his dudes outside as they greeted guests.

Meanwhile, Clare slipped into her dress.

Her Grandfather had passed away, but he’d asked her to wear his special broach at her wedding, which I thought was sweet.

In spite of the tea-set & hotel TV, I really like this natural shot, with shoes off, taking a moment to reflect.

That was until nerves got the better of Clare & she & her girls decided to dance their nerves off to ‘London Nights’ by The London Boys

A natural portrait of the girls…

…plus a slightly more staged, but still casual one of Clare looking beautiful before the show hit the road

That moment when dad comes in & lays his eyes on his little girl, all dressed up to give away is priceless.

Here comes the bride!

This little dude was running up to Pete & I afterwards shouting ‘TAKE MY PHOTO’ & blowing bubbles at us!

I was sadly raining after the ceremony, so after a bit of loitering & bubbles round the Holdsworth House fires, we did the main family groups inside.

But once we’d got those over with, the weather broke for a moment, so we dived outside with the wedding party for a couple of fun groups.

Here are the girls, laughing at my effort to do the London Boys dance.

And here are the chaps, looking mint in their top hats & tails!

Then we did a few quick portraits

Including a few details

And a cheeky flower shot.

I love how they have so much fun in everything they do.

The hall looked fab once it was redressed for the meal too.

An ACTUAL cheese cake!  Genius!

The crowd was oiled & speeches went down a storm.

Fortunately, after dinner the skies cleared again and (after a spot of wrangling) we managed to get everyone out front for the full group & bubble confetti shot!

All in all, it was such a great day to be involved in it goes to show that weather need not spoil a magical day!

Thank you to Clare & Rob for asking me along!  I hope your blessing goes well on Saturday & that you have a wicked time in Bali!
