Yesterday I joined Liz & Glynn for their big day at Crow Hill in Marsden. In spite of the gloom and drizzle, it was such a wonderful day.
It was a bit of a moody ol’ drive heading over the moors to Marsden, with cloud hugging the hills and a pretty grim forecast predicted all day…
Both team bride & team groom were getting ready in different wings of Crow Hill. The trees in the grounds are just starting to turn as autumn sets in.
One of the nice things about Crow Hill as a wedding venue is that you can take your dogs! As a dog owner I know how important a member of the family a dog becomes, so it’s great to have them on hand.
Not sure we needed to beware of Barny & Bella though!
We’re all buds anyhoos, as these guys accompanied us on the pre-wedding practice shoot up at Bolton Abbey on Liz’s 30th birthday a few weeks back (post here)
Upstairs in the main house Liz & the girls were being hair- & made-up by their pal Helen
Loving the dress (from The Wedding Mill in Saltaire) on its personalised hanger!
[ Photographic tip: a good hanger makes quite the difference to photographing a dress hanging on the basic plastic ones they’re usually supplied with! ]
How cool are these tropical calla-lillies? (Or zantedeschia aethiopica if you prefer the latin!). All the day’s florals were put together by their mum & pal Katherine!
Liz & Glynn had a purple & orange theme throughout the wedding, colours they both love, but possibly a little nod to the upcoming halloween season. When I originally met these guys, they were even toying with a Halloween fancy dress wedding!
Meanwhile, to the side of the house Clare joined Glynn, who’d not long since got back from walking the dogs up t’moor
I loved the vintage, country-gent stylings of Glynn’s wedding suit, which amazingly they found off the peg from Next!
Win!
Loving this shot of Glynn adding a few last minute touches to his speech
Meanwhile, behind closed doors, the girls were lacing Liz into her party gown!
At Liz ‘s work they’ve a hat that gets around!
It’s been photographed in umpteen countries, with staff on holidays and all over, and this is the first wedding it’s been papped at! 😉
Guests were greeted into the ceremony room by Glynn & Tom
A quick pinch of Tom’s bum for moral support?
Then it was time for Dad to chaperone his beautiful daughter down to her wedding!
Here comes the bride!
I like this relaxed little moment.
Nothing like an aisle high5!
It was drizzling lightly outside, but we managed to take shelter till everyone was out to arrange a quick shot of everyone…
And a quick tropical confetti bomb!
Then we dived for cover into the bar for drinks and mingles
As it was raining a bit hard for outdoor pics, we did the family groups on the dancefloor with a bit of bounced flash.
Looking good!
A few details of the brilliant flora and colour schemes.
After a few portraits on the dancefloor…
We took a quick turn across to the house
And the conservatory made for a nice bright spot to hang out for a few relaxed portraits.
We even did a few backlit flash portraits in a lovely lichen covered corner of the garden. Can anyone see Clare hiding behind them, holding Liz’s dress off the ground?!
Before heading back we popped in to say hi to Bella & do one final family shot before heading back to the party
Cunning tube table plan!
The wedding breakfast room looked ace in orange & purple
Complimented by an ace cake!
After the entrance of the bride and groom, a little quiz was conducted
Then before the meal, speeches were conducted.
Photographically, we really like it when speeches are before the meal, but it generally helps the nervous speakers to enjoy the meal as well!
All the speeches were great, but the best man’s speech was hilariously close to the bone!
After the meal, a former colleague of Liz & Glynn’s added a further spot of entertainment, starting with an outstanding barrage of stand-up gags, then brought the best man up on stage for a comedic character assassination!
Followed by stand-up/sit-down bingo, assisted by Glynn!
As evening set in we set up our photobooth for a bit of fun! The crowd were brilliant craic, and pretty much everyone had a bash on it in our silly props!

Like myself, Liz likes tequila!
The official (and less official) cutting of the cake!
Then to Barry White, these kids took to the dancefloor for a a bit of a twirl
Then the excellent house DJ used the perfect combination of great tunes and jovial bullying to keep the crowds getting down on the floor till we bid our farewells!
Brilliant wedding eh? It genuinely doesn’t matter if the sun don’t shine when you’ve chosen well and have a game gang!
Here’s wishing Liz & Glynn a fab life together and a wonderful Stateside honeymoon in Orlando, Florida, San Fran & Vegas!
