Last weekend I joined Naomi + Graeme for their beautiful (albeit slightly wet!) summer wedding photos at The Fig House at Middleton Lodge, a stunningly restored walled garden near Richmond in Yorkshire!
While I’ve photographed many weddings at Middleton Lodge this was the first time I’ve take photographs at The Fig House Walled Garden and it was quite something!
Preparations were around Darlington, where this lovely pair grew up. My second shooter for the day, Brigitta Pénzes, joined the best man Graeme at his parents home in Newton Aycliffe while I joined the girls at a hair stylists in Darlington itself, where they had their own private dungeon to do their own make up and drink fizz once their hair had been spruced!
Afterward, both parties descended on Middleton Lodge’s Fig House to get the party started! One minute the the show-garden-standard plants and veggies of the walled garden were being watered by mother nature, the next the sun was out… and back again! Meanwhile, as Graeme greeted guests in his sharp blue tweed, the girls slipped into their beautiful gowns in the bridal suite. Before we knew it dad was hugging his daughter and chauffeuring her down the road in his beloved Lotus Elan Plus 2. Sadly the weather called play on outdoor ceremony plans, but the beamed Fig House still made for a beautiful background.
Naomi and Graeme are keen Triathletes (Naomi to an elite standard I believe representing Great Britain!), so being used to performing under inclement conditions, confetti and portraits in damp surroundings were a walk in the park! They’re loads of fun together, both with beaming smiles and Graeme a wicked sense of humour! The enjoying the company of their near and dear with fizz and delicious canapes before sitting down in the long conservatory for a lavish buffet and speeches. The sun came out in the evening, firepits were lit, and after a few portraits it was time to cut the cake and cut a few shapes on the dancefloor!
A wonderful day all round!
So, grab y’sen a mug of Yorkshire tea (or a glass of fizz!) and hit play on the slideshow below to check out their wedding highlights slideshow…

What a fab day hey! The weather didn’t dampen spirits at all and it was a beautiful and relaxed day all round!
Here’s wishing Naomi + Graeme a wonderful life together!
While their honeymoon plans for Naomi to run an elite triathlon in Canada have been sadly scuppered by Covid, here’s hoping they have plenty more adventures together chasing Triathlon courses around the world!
Big love!
Barnaby + Brigitta
