Yesterday I had the great pleasure of joining Matt + Simon to photograph their marriage at Yorebridge House in Bainbridge near Hawes in The Yorkshire Dales.
Not only was it a beautiful Summer’s day, in one of the most scenic parts of Richmondshire in Wensleydale, but it was a gay wedding on the same day as our nation’s capital celebrated the annual Pride parade, just a day after gay marriage was ruled to be legal across the US.  And while a co-incidence that it fell so close to these events, it only added to the magic that, as Obama recently put it, ‘love is love’.
For me personally it was also something I’ve been looking forward to for ages, as a change from the norm in both technique and structure, with Matt + Simon getting ready together in the morning, and having loads of fun twists on tradition (four ‘Best People’, ‘Groomsmaids and mother of the groom speeches, to mention but a few!)
Further still, it was a delight to hear Matt’s superstar brother Nick Mulvey (and his lovely wife) bring their special blend of music to the day.  It was particularly poignant (and drew more than a few tears) when during the service, Nick covered Elvis Presley’s ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’, and on the last chorus, everyone joined in…
So you can see why Hamish and I found this a particularly fun wedding story to tell…
I hope you enjoyed those images as much as we did capturing them.  It really was a joy to be a part of, and we wish Matt + Simon every happiness in their married life together.  Here’s hoping you have a fab honeymoon break in Tuscany and Corsica too!
All the very best indeed chaps!
