Last Saturday I joined Becca + Sam for their Spring wedding photography at the beautiful Middleton Lodge Estate near Richmond!

I’ve photographed tonnes of weddings at Middleton Lodge over the years, from its early days when James and the family simply let couples take over for the weekend and they slipped upstairs, to the well-oiled operations they host in their FIg House venue and swanky coach house, around the stunning estate! It’s always lovely to do wedding photos in Middleton Lodge Main House though, as it’s such a beautiful, but homely, country house with great vibes.

I pulled up to the Georgian country house as the bell struck noon and April Fool’s Day called an end to any tomfoolery! Daffodils were standing proud and Spring was most definitely in the air (read: weather looked unpredictable but hopeful). As I climbed the amazing staircase to join the girls in the Oak Room, the stage was being set by Kirsty Johnson from the Wilde Floral, and you could already see from Becca + Sam’s decisions that it was going to be an elegant and classy affair.

Shooting this one on my own, I spent the morning bouncing between the bride and her squad of gorgeous bridesmaids, and the groom and his dapper dudes in the billiard room. After documenting them don tuxedos (and helping the majority tie their self-tie bowties), I headed back to Becca just in time to see mum help her into her beautiful champagne-coloured gown. A proud dad popped in to give her a big squeeze and it was rather special to see him escort her back down the sweeping stairs to their drawing room civil ceremony.

A shower of confetti, a quick round of group pics and portraits and the happy couple were in the moment again, enjoying the company of their guests and an amazing close up magician. Heartwarming speeches were conducted in the main hallway before the meal (always nice to hear a mother of the groom speech!) before sitting down to a delicious meal. As dusk drew in, we cut the cake and ducked out for few quick flash pics, before heading down to the old wine cellar for a boogie.

Now, not only were wedding congratulations due on this special day, but Becca + Sam were also several months pregnant AND it was Sam’s birthday! A triple whammy! And not only was it the first time I’ve heard Stevie Wonder’s ‘Happy Birthday’ as a first dance, but about 20 people put a mask of Sam on for it!

All in all, it was the perfect Yorkshire Wedding, and with the professionalism from Megan and the team there, the day flowed without a hitch!

So – without further ado, get y’sen a glass of Fizz or a nice Yorkshire Tea, and enjoy my highlights below, which hopefully tell the story of this special day…

I’ll be uploading their full set of images to their client area in just a few weeks, so if you’d like to be notified when all their images go live, register to be notified at: https://barnabyaldrick.pic-time.com/-BeccaSam/register
