Last week I took a trip to The Cotswolds to join an old friend for their fantastic wedding photos at Owlpen Manor!

I’ve known Caroline since days of old, partying on Call Lane in Leeds in my twenties; so it was wonderful to hear she’d met and got engaged to a kindred raconteur, a charming Scottish fellow named Jimmy!

I knew it’d be a unique, fun-packed day, and it didn’t disappoint! Not only had Caroline commissioned an amazing handmade teal 3 part dress (with a removable lower-half for evening dancing!), but she’d hand-made the flower girls dresses and made the wild-flower bouquets! After an hour with the 8 strong bridal party in the Cyder Barn (built in 1446 no less!), I slipped over to Jimmy & the gents in Manor Farm Cottage for their kilting up into traditional Scottish Thistle tartan! There’s barely a photo without a beer in hand or a wee dram, and spirits were high!

The sun was shining and their outdoor ceremony went ahead in the peace and tranquility of this secluded Cotswold valley, overlooking the stunning Manor house and Holy Cross Church. Their friend Lisa sung the wedding party down the aisle (to an original song she’d specially penned!), then Caroline’s dad, a baptist minister, hosted their ceremony – which must be a great honour for both of them.

After a congratulatory hugs, a confetti bomb and a few quick group pics, we headed into the formal gardens for delicious canapés & fizz, entertained by an awesome magician and a steel band.

After a few portraits, these booze-hounds sabred off the top a bottle of Champagne before heading up to the Pole Barn (made from timber felled on the estate) for their reception BBQ (serving the MOST AMAZING slow-cooked wagu brisket!)

After hilarious speeches (from a whole raft of the bridal party!), a few more scoops & a spot of giant connect 4 in the dappled evening sun, we cut the ‘cheese cake’ and skipping first dance, dived straight into the evening cellidh!

You can tell these guys work in hospitality, as the day was SUCH a perfectly organised party! Plus, it’s such a pleasure seeing a dear pal genuinely in the moment, enjoying the best day of their lives!

You couldn’t really ask for more that Owlpen Manor for a perfect Cotswolds wedding! It was such fun to join an old pal at a new venue (to me anyway!) and I hope you enjoy the highlights of their story below as much as I did capturing them:
