On Saturday I joined Sammy + Ed for their awesome wedding photos at The Venue at Bowers Mill, a former woollen mill near Halifax!
I joined Sammy & her 7-strong bridal party in Halifax for their preps, along with their adorable Pug Douglas! Half way through, Ed and 6 groomsmen bowled up to get ready in the garden! There was a great buzz in the air, and the morning flew by, before Sammy slipped into her lovely dress and dived him her mates Tesla to Bowers Mill, for the civil ceremony!
It’s the first time I’d shot at The Venue at Bowers Mill and I loved it! A charming, open-plan space, with stripped wood floors, exposed brick and – as import in industrial times milling textiles as for photos – lovely ceiling windows for good light!
A fun ceremony was held in The Spinning Room, before we shuffled outside for my signature confetti bomb and a quick shot of everyone, before the drizzle began! Back in shelter, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed delicious canapés and fizz until the curtains were slid back to reveal the meal space, where a delicious, modern British ‘wedding breakfast’ was served. As the drizzle wasn’t letting up, we took a quick stroll under a brolly, and as ‘blue hour’ took hold, we made the most of the weather and got some fab back flashed rain shots under the gazebo outside! Back in to raid the crisp buffet and do a few casual teamshots with mates, it was soon time to cut the Colin the Caterpillar cake (Ed’s favourite cake!), strut the first dance and pile on for a good ol’wedding boogie!
Before I hit the road, we even managed to coral everyone outside for a quick sparkler swizzle in the drizzle!
That were a reet good Yorkshire Wedding, with a Yorkshire bride unafraid of a spot of rain, and a proper warm Yorkshire welcome from Rebecca and the Venue team. Top work all round!
