Yesterday I joined Kyu + Ed for their wonderful wedding photography at Manchester Art Gallery in Central Manchester!
As another wedding suffering under the pandemic, these guys have had a long wait since they originally enquired with me in March 2019! Two postponements and a change of venue later, the big day finally arrived and it was worth the wait to finally reunite and celebrate with family from Germany & Korea!
My wingwoman Magda & I joined the soon-to-be-newlyweds at the Clayton Hotel in Central Manchester for relaxed morning preps. Once ready, they both took the short 5 minute stroll through the bustling streets of Chinatown to the Art Gallery for their 4.30pm ceremony. It was pretty awesome to be married surrounded by priceless art by local legend L.S. Lowry and afterward to have the exclusive run of the gallery for the rest of the evening! We headed down to the neo-classical pillared frontage for a blast of confetti and to rally groups (while trying not to get mown down by the passing yellow trams)! A quick round of portraits outside and inside the gallery and we were soon settling to eat in a red gallery, surrounded again by outrageous works of art! It was quite the experience!
After speeches (in which Ed made a great effort delivering a section in Korean!), evening reception celebrations were kicked off with the fun Korean tradition of the parental tossing of dates and chestnuts, which the bride and groom try to catch in a traditional cloth! Loads of fun. Soon after it was time for the first dance, the cutting of the cake and before we heading off, a few fun back flashed portraits out front, in Manchester’s traditional light drizzle!
It was most certainly worth the wait and everyone seemed to be having a fab day!
