Last Friday Hamish and I joined Dapinder + Alex for their wedding photos at Sandon Hall near Stafford, in the heard of Staffordshire in the midlands!
It’s the first time we’ve shot here and Sandon Hall is AMAZING! It’s a 19th-century country mansion that still belongs to a family – the seat of the Earl of Harrowby to be preceise – and is a Grade II* listed building set in 400 acres of parkland! So after a long turn down the winding drive, past an on site church and fields of sheep, you end up outside this mammoth stack like something out of Downton Abbey! And inside is just as sophisticated, with sweeping staircases, rooms overflowing with antiques and walls adorned with guilt paintings. It’s a dream location for a funky weddings and receptions and is also exclusive hire, so it’s free of any distractions!
And Daps + Alex threw quite a shindig too! It was one of those wonderful Anglo/Indian weddings bringing together the best of both worlds in a riot of colour and fun!
The first half was traditionally western, with white dress and all and I joined the girls for their preps at Sandon Hall, while Hamish joined Team Groom at Alex’s dad’s house just outside Stafford. Then after a civil ceremony, a spot of confetti, a delicious 12 hour braised shin of beef and a round of fun speeches, it was time to bring in the Indian subcontinent to party! A change of dress into a magnificent red indian wedding dress and announced into the evening do by Bangra drummers, the rest of the night was a partying with arms in the air, only broken up by a yummy curry buffet!
