Yesterday I joined Emma + Marc for their gorgeous wedding photography at The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey – a beautifully restored, ancient barn, overlooking the Bolton Abbey estate in the stunning Yorkshire Dales!
My wingman Matt & I joined this happy couple for their relaxed preparations at the gorgeous Devonshire Arms Hotel, just down the road from the venue, also in Wharfedale. While the girls were enjoying champagne in their matching dressing gowns, it was a little surprise to join the groom and best man, and find one of them laid out waiting for us in just his socks and Leeds United gruds! Best friends since they were 5 years old, it’s always fun to have a silly bugger best man for relaxing comedy value! Emma + Marc’s 20 month old son Connor joined the action after a fun morning with grandma and looked a treat in his tiny suit.
While Marc & best man Callum took the stroll from the Devonshire up to the Tithe Barn to welcome their guests, the girls had a traditional Beauford car run them up. After a quick, relaxed civil ceremony in the grand barn space, we nipped out back to mingle and smash through a few family group pics before jumping in the Beauford to head to Bolton Abbey Priory ruins for a few couple pics. It’s such a lovely site, on a kink in the River Wharfe, and made for a fab background for their couple pics.
After a wedding favour scratch cards were scratched, and a delicious roast beef rib dinner served at the gin-themed tables, a fun set of speeches were delivered and the official duties were done and dusted. We managed to take a stroll in the ‘golden hour’ evening sun to a stunning spot overlooking the Abbey, before the evening shenanigans kicked off and guests hit the dancefloor!
