Wedding photos at The Hospitium in York, Yorkshire: Vicki & Ed

Yesterday I joined Vicki & Ed for their Wedding photos at The Hospitium in York!

This fun pair didn’t want too much fuss, just a relaxed celebration around Central York’s stunning Museum Gardens, beside the River Ouse. With 10 acres of leafy walkways, the Yorkshire Museum, the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey and the sound of The Minster’s bells ringing nearby, it’s an idyllic location for a wedding. After a quick stop with Vicki and the girls in The Yorvik House Hotel I crossed Marygate to join Ed and the gang for their ceremony at the ancient St Olave’s church (founded by Siward, Earl of Northumbria, who was buried there in 1055, so it’s pretty old!).

After a beautiful ceremony, Vicki & Ed led the guests down to the (also ancient – a theme in York!) 14th century Hospitium, a two-storey grade one listed medieval Hall, for fizz and canapés. It’s one of the best wedding venues in the York Museums Trust and it was fab to capture everyone enjoying the warm autumn sunshine, as the leaves overhead begin to turn.

After a quick round of pics and groups, the comfy bridal wedding crocs were donned and guests headed upstairs for a delicious wedding breakfast. Afterward the sticky toffee pud, a round of fun speeches were conducted (including dad digging out an old home movie of Ed singing in a childhood school production!)

Colin & Connie the Caterpillar cakes were cut, a few final evening flash pics were snapped in the ruins of St Mary’s and (skipping the tradition of a first dance) it was over to SouthWest Band to get everyone on the floor to rock the night away!

It was the perfect chilled day for this fun-loving, sweet couple, and it was a pleasure to see familiar faces and feel so welcome by Vicki & Ed’s party people!
