A stunning Yorkshire Garden Marquee wedding with a Wills Marquees Pole Tent
Last weekend my wingman Sam and I shot the Yorkshire garden marquee wedding photos for this lovely pair – Lizzie + Robbie!
The celebrations were hosted around Lizzie’s family village of Sicklinghall, with bridal preps at her gorgeous family home, gent preps at The Scotts Arms up the road, and the ceremony a stone’s throw further at Saint Peter’s Sicklinghall. This run of drizzly ‘Summer’ weather looked ominous, but relented for a tunnel of confetti and a stroll back through the village to a delightful reception and lawn games in their beautiful gardens. behind the house stood an impressive Wills Marquees Pole Tent, for a delicious wedding breakfast by Nomad Catering.
The day was touched by sadness, as Lizzie’s father had tragically died mountaineering only a year prior, but family and guests celebrated in a way it sounded like Dermot would have approved. In her speech, Lizzie gave a moving toast to his memory and everyone shared a shot of his favourite Irish Whiskey, ‘Writers Tears‘ (the ‘dreamers dram’ known as the ‘Champagne of Irish Whiskey’). It was really very moving.
Once the Bride’s Mum, Robbie & the Best Man’s excellent speeches concluded, a waiter suddenly crashed to the floor! After the impressive gallantry of the best man running to help, the waiter popped up, burst into song and turned out to be a singing ‘undercover waiter‘! It was such a secret not even the groom knew about and within moments, guests were standing on chairs, waiving napkins; boys v girls duelling in song and doing conga lines around the marquee… all ending with a full dancefloor lit by phone camera light, just in time for Cocktail hour!
A stylish, relaxed marquee wedding, spiced up with undercover singing waiters!
Margharita’s, Espresso Martinis and a pit stop at the well stocked whisky and cigar bar, and party vibes were immediately fired back up – the tower of cheese cut and The Revolverlites ‘High Energy Function Band’ kicked in! The newlyweds first saw them on European Skiing trips and they kicked off with the impressively rocky first dance ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ by The Darkness! The tone was set, glow tubes lit and sax man Sax Every Weekend even joined the party!
It was such a fun and special day and Lizzie + Robbie were just lovely to be around! Big thanks to all the awesome suppliers too – especially Sian at Sian Chaplin Events, who kept everything flowing so smoothly!
