Last weekend I joined Jodie + Sam for their beautiful wedding photos at The Pheasant Hotel in Harome near Helmsley in North Yorkshire!
A fun filled, dog-centric wedding in a gastro-pub known for amazing grub!
This was such a lovely relaxed wedding – a no ties and dogs in church kinda day – and while storm Lillian had tried to blow down every tree in North Yorkshire, everything amazingly went to plan!
And things almost didn’t, as this wedding had to be postponed from last year when Jodie caught Sepsis – a life-threatening emergency when the body’s immune system has an extreme response to an infection – and almost died.
I was so moved when during dad’s speech, he said that Jodie was touch and go in the hospital and every day, Sam went to the chapel to pray for her life, and that was when he know Sam was the guy for Jodie.
Genuinely brought a tear to my eye.
Jodie is a Jeweller and there was some serious bling on display, but the sweetest bit for me was during the giving of the rings in St Saviours Church (over the road from The Pheasant Hotel in Harome), because they involved their little lad by giving him a signet ring to mark the occasion too. It was a lovely way of bringing them all together in union.
A genuinely moving ceremony involving their son at St Saviour’s Church in Harome
And in spite of this rollercoaster, Jodie’s bounced back and they threw a right banger of a party! Bouncy castles for their little boy Teddy and his mates and a stand-up drive round Harome in the back of their awesome white Jeep! Then after a relaxed reception in the sunshine (and a hilarious bouquet toss) on the terrace and lawns facing the local duck pond, they had an amazing singer sing them in, and the guests went wild!
As it was a relaxed affair, it was only me shooting and they only had me until the moving (and impromptu!) speeches were all finished, then I bit everyone farewell! (Including not one, but 2 lovely couples I’d shot before – High 5’s to Nic + Andy and Pru + Matt!)
As I left, the room fired up in song again, so I’m not sure how relaxed the evening shenanegans ended up being! But it was a blast joining everyone for the day…
You couldn’t really ask for more from a perfect Yorkshire wedding! Big credit to Nicola, Liam and the team there for being stars as ever!
It’s always a real pleasure shooting at The Pheasant Hotel and this was no exception… I hope you enjoy their slideshow below as much as I did shooting them:
