Last Friday I joined the very lovely Claire & Matthew to photograph their wedding at Holdsworth House near Halifax
I hope you enjoy the story of their wedding day!
I joined Claire & the girls at Whitehall Hairdressers for a spot of hair and make-up pamper action
Stunning eh?! Loving this hair and headpiece combo!
Meanwhile, literally down the road, Matt & team groom were stocking up with a full English before suitin’ and bootin’
Then back at Groom HQ it was time to tog up!
Back at the girls place, the bunting was fluttering in the breeze and the Maggie Sottero gown was waiting for it’s moment to shine!
While I was papping it, in the mirror I spotted Claire in the doorway, looking at the dress.
I like little moments like these.
Loving the shoes too!
The beautiful flora was done by Flowers by Design in Drighlington
Team bride all complete and ready to roll…
…in a vintage VW Beetle (by Vintage Folks in Sheffield)!
I love the sound of a string quartet playing familiar covers!
(These guys were great, and called Serenade Strings)
Here comes the bride!
Always nice having a wingman at the back to get another angle on the service, without me having to move around and disturb the ceremony.
After the ceremony they came out to be greeted by a Chimney Sweep that Claire’s step-dad had booked.
Not a tradition I’ve ever heard of, but apparently it brings good luck!
Always nice to set up a confetti bomb!
These guys nearly brought their pooches to the pre-wedding catch up for a few pics, but decided last minute they might be a bit distracting.
But it was nice to meet Lola & Toby, who were brought in to wish mum and dad well after the service!
Being a dog owner, I’m a huge dog fan and know how much they become a member of the family, so it’s ace to get a pic with them on the day at some point.
Though if you ask me, it was an opportunity  missed to have dogs wearing a bow-tie and veil!
😉
It was kind of drizzly when we arrived at Holdsworth House, but the showers fortunately came and went
So as soon as we had a window, we got down to a few relaxed portraits in front of the old Jacobean manor house.
Now I want a Bug!
These guys are just lovely together. Super relaxed and very much in love.
We’d done a nice round of practice pics at Oakwell Hall a few weeks back, which really helped us to be able to get lovely pics like these (check out the blog here)
Then we got down to enjoying the mingles with near and dear
The guitarist playing an acoustic set was actually a pal of mine called Dave Rees; and in all honesty is one of my favourite wedding covers musicians.
He’s got an amazing voice and guests ended up coming in specially to listen to him play – check out his music on his site at www.davepilla.com.
After the family lineups, I like to have a bit more fun with some relaxed wedding party pics.
Love the regal nature of this guys teamshot
Claire & Matt had done a beautiful job dressing the wedding breakfast room, with bunting, lace and bags of sweets!
Mmmm, chocolate.
All of a sudden it was time for cake cutting and first dancing
Then the party really got started!
Always nice to be at Holdsworth House for a good knees up, and to have the company of an ace couple who make the most of things in spite of occasional drizzle!
Here’s wishing Claire & Matt all the very best indeed – a long and happy marriage & an amazing honeymoon in Mexico!
