Yesterday, it was an absolute delight to join Andrea & Trevor to photograph their wedding in the Yorkshire Dales. It was a crisp, sunny day around Bolton Abbey, and they married in Bolton Priory (literally in the dramatic ruins of Bolton Abbey) before heading down the road to their wedding reception at the Michelin Starred, gastro-haven in The Devonshire Arms!
Hamish & I genuinely had such a blast in the company of this lovely couple and their welcoming friends and family. These newly-weds are so clearly, and passionately, in love; and have such a verve for life and fun. You could just see them enjoying every little moment, and were relishing the company of their near and dear on this special day. Sounds cheesy, but it really was magical.
I hope you enjoy our the story of this special day!
Andrea’s relaxed morning was mainly spent listening to Serg from Kasabian and drinking Prosecco, which I believe are officially Andrea’s two favourite things!
Andrea decided instead of a bouquet to make her own out of her grannies impressive stash of blingy broaches! Pretty impressive eh?!
Four pairs of shoes to cover all contingencies!
While I was papping Andrea & the morning’s bridal preps, my wingman Hamish amused the guys while he photographed their morning…
Andrea had bought Trev the Tag watch he always wanted as a surprise!
The ceremony was in Bolton Priory, which is actually built within old ruins of Bolton Abbey!
It’s a stunning place for a wander at the best of times, especially when the sun’s blazing like it was today.
Loving this teamshot!
Trev’s two sons were absolute stars, performing their ushing duties admirably!
There are no two ways about it, Andrea is great fun
I love emotional little moments like these. Andrea’s dad is a sweetie.
Before heading down the aisle, the choir filled the vaults with wonderful music
You can just see how much these two love looking at each other!
These guys love their kids to bits, and at loads of times during the day it was lovely to see them giving their boys and girls big, tender hugs.
Then we donned the white wellies and hit the Abbey for a quick round of relaxed portraits.
(We’d already done a practice round of pics around the Devonshire Arms in the snow in January, which can be seen on my blog here)
Not a bad spot for it eh?
Then we headed back to The Dev for the reception
Confetti Bomb!
We hardly did any groupshots, apart from parents and the wedding party, but we had some fun with the wedding party pics.
The it was in for mingles and canapes
Andrea’s Bridesmaid Angela is a pro wedding & event planner, so with a lot of helpful hands on deck, did a huge amount in dressing the wedding meal room
The speeches were genuinely lovely. Touching, funny and off the cuff. Trevor hadn’t written anything down at all, and it was fantastically delivered.
After the meal, with a bit of light left in the dusky skies, we headed out for a few extra portraits
Then gathered everyone outside the big Devonshire tree for sparkler fun!
Once everyone was well an truly enjoying the dancefloor, we bid out farewells (and Trev even bought us a beer to enjoy before hitting the road!).
What a lovely pair, and I can just tell they’re gonna have a wonderful, fun and fizz-filled life!
Massive congratulations all round you guys!
