A few weeks back I joined Sarah & Paul for their pre-wedding photography at The Clough Manor on the edge of the picturesque Saddleworth village of Denshaw.
It was a typically foreboding, but dramatic journey down the M62 and across the Pennines into Calderdale…
It gets rather barren on the tops as you cross from Yorkshire into Lancashire
And then I spotted Clough Manor nestled into the hill, where I met Sarah & Paul for a catch up.
The hotel was originally an 18th century farmhouse, affording panoramic views over Saddleworth
The reason for these practice shoots is not only to hear a couple’s big day plans, and work out how photography fits into that, but is to both scout around a venue for wedding day portrait options and (most importantly) to get upcoming couples used to being photographed!
I’m looking to get nice relaxed moments like these, which are sometimes hard to come by when a couple are overly self-conscious and awkward.
So it’s great to hang out and have a bit of a laugh, and show that the portraits part of a wedding shouldn’t need to feel all stiff and formal.
Really like this one.
So that’s Sarah & Paul, and we’ll all be hanging out at their wedding on Saturday! Â So stay tuned for their official wedding blog of highlights on Sunday!
