One warm, but overcast afternoon a few weeks back, I joined the lovely Sarah & Graham, for their pre-wedding meeting at their venue Holdsworth House near Halifax!
It’s a wonderful venue I’ve enjoyed shooting at a whole bunch of times before, and I always look forward to working there.
There’s a fairytale quality to the building, that reminds me of the house made of food in Hansel & Gretel!  It almost looks like the building itself has taken a deep sigh and sunk in on itself!  In reality it’s an ancient Jacobean Manor dating back to in 1633, filled with character-filled, low-beamed rooms with massive fireplaces & tiny windows.  That and the amazing topiary gardens gardens at the old building entrance add English real charm to a wedding.
Anyhoos – the point of the pre-wedding meeting with these fine kids wasn’t to get all giddy about the heritage of the building, but to get Sarah & Graham used to being in front of the camera!
So we dived in and got snuggly around the gardens!
Graham even found a little prop!
I love scattering guests around this hedgey maze for a giant group shot of everyone
I actually photographed Graham’s sister, Angie & Chris’ wedding back in 2009. Â You can check out their post here.
I bumped into them in IKEA a while ago when Angie was heavily pregnant, so it’ll be great to meet their little one at the wedding!
Looking back at the post, before I made on-the-day slideshows, it’s interesting to see how my style hasn’t really changed that drastically. Â Whether that’s a good or a bad thing, you decide! Â But apart from sharpening my skills a bit more, and shooting through more expensive glass, fundamentally, I’m still looking to create images that tell a story, champion fun &Â catch people looking natural.
I like this natural moment.
And I like how Sarah’s on tip toes to reach for a kiss!
They are really sweet together, and their day’s shaping up to be lots of fun.
I like this little detail of the ring.
And finally, in the back to back ‘lovers chair’ they have.
Bring on Sunday! Â I’ll be posting their on the day highlights early on next week, so stay tuned!
