Yesterday I joined Rebecca & Chris to photograph their fun & sun-filled wedding at The Star Inn in Harome, over the North York Moors! Â My first of 2014!
The Star at Harome is possibly my favourite gastro pub in all of Yorkshire (& not only is there some serious competition, but I’ve tried a lot of them!).  Clare & I took Kyra up there late last year to explore the village & grounds and ‘research’ the menu and WOW – it is stunning.  They don’t run the wedding side of things in the small pub & restaurant, but over the road in the Star’s Wheelhouse at Cross House Lodge.  They can only accommodate weddings of up to 50, so it’s the perfect spot for a small, intimate wedding like this.
I hope you enjoy our the story of this special day!
Harome is a beautifully picturesque village near Helmsley, and the drive from Leeds, up and over the North York Moors is a very pretty journey, especially in the sun!
I joined Rebecca, her mum and a few close pals for their relaxed morning celebrations in one of the many ace, boutique rooms in Cross House Lodge
The Madeleine Gardner wedding gown looked beautiful hung in the hallway & the flora by Busy Liz’s Flowers all around the venue looked fab.
My 2nd shooter wingman at this wedding was my good pal – and fellow dog walking tweed-o-phile –Â Joel Skingle.
He hung out with Chris and documented the chaps sides of proceedings.
At 1pm the guys headed to the wonderfully quaint Yorkshire village pub at The Star Inn
Loving these relaxed portraits of Chris
Meanwhile, as the ceremony zero-hour got closer, the chaps headed back to Cross House Lodge to check everything was set…
The Wheelhouse and lodge are such a great backdrop for an intimate wedding like this
Upstairs, the girls were helping Rebecca with her finishing touches…
Then a proud dad popped by to collect his little girl
There were more than a few tears shed by the groom during this day!
Aww!
After a teamshot of everyone, it was time for …
Confetti bomb!
Great to have Joel there to catch this 2nd ace angle!
Then we whistled through a few family & friend line-ups in the sunshine
Including this aceness!
After some mingles with guests, we rounded up the happy couple for a few quick portraits…
Starting with this lovely one inside the Wheelhouse
Generally it’s all about the brides shoes, but talk about excellent shoe and sock choice from the groom!
Another one of Joel’s I really like.
These guys are such a lovely couple, so relaxed and happy together and with such great banter, so it was a genuine laugh shooting these portraits.
Chris’ mum Liz spent months making this amazing cake (and feeding it an impressive quantity of brandy!).
(It’s so good the greedy pig statue behind couldn’t control himself!)
During the drinks reception, the wheelhouse was turned around for dinner, and looked very lovely indeed
Speeches before dinner were kicked off by Trevor
Then a lovely personal speech from the groom to his new wife, delivered with a few tears!
And wrapped up brilliantly by school teacher Best Man and best pal Ali.
Then we bid our farewell and left the gang to enjoy a cosy and no doubt delicious meal between dear friends and family!
Happy days! Â Really nice that my first wedding of the year was sunny, in such a funky place and with such a good bunch.
Here’s to Rebecca & Chris, to a happy life and a fab honeymoon in Morocco! x B
