Last Saturday, my good man John Hope stepped in for me to photograph Fran + Sam’s wedding at The Box Tree Restaurant in Ilkley in beautiful Wharfdale in Yorkshire!
It’d be understating things a tad to say it’s been a strange year in the wedding industry… Most of my 2020 couples have understandably postponed to next year and beyond. A few on the other hand have followed government guidance and paired their weddings back to a much more low key event.
Fran + Sam originally planned to have their big day at the beautiful Denton Hall, just outside Ilkley with The Box Tree doing the Catering, but instead ended up hosting their ceremony and meal for just 11 guests at the Michelin Starred Box Tree restaurant instead.
However, in a bit of a shock in the week running up to what would’ve been my first wedding of 2020, I came down with Coronavirus!
You couldn’t write it! <insert facepalm emoticon!>
So for the first time in almost 14 years of photographing weddings, I had to hand in a sick note and ask a colleague to step in due to my illness! Thankfully the brilliant John Hope stepped up and fine job he did too!Â
It really looked like a lovely day and these guys clearly make a lovely pair. Fran looked glorious, with her awesome sparkle boots and Sam looked dashing in navy. The ceremony & meal looked as perfect as you’d expect from the guys at The Box Tree and the petals dried by the mums paid dividends in a lovely confetti shot. The emotions als shined through during the ceremony and stirring speeches…
I was gutted to be stuck at home isolating! All the more so when the best man was also called Barnaby! It’s unusual to find two Barnaby’s in one room at the best of times!
