For my birthday back in January, my lovely girlfriend Clare bought me an ‘Audi R8 track day experience’! This present was well on the money, as I’ve owned a few sporty Audi’s (a TT-Sport & a 3L A4 TDI Sport) and half always dreamt of driving an Audi R8 supercar!
Well a few weekends back we headed out to Elvington airfield to take this beast for a spin round the track…
You have to agree, this car’s not a bad looker…
(Not quite so hot with a douche leaning on it)
VROOM!
Success! 3 laps completed and I didn’t spin it or write it off.
At the end of the day, while a quick and throaty motor that truly comes alive when you floor it down a straight – it felt bizarrely similar to driving a TT-S! I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, as it was a brilliant experience to get to drive this slick supercar, it definitely didn’t feel £50+K better than a TT-S. I’ve considered buying one of these before, but checking out the non-existant boot (not a lot of room around that V10 for backup photography bags!) and being able seeing the fuel needle drop as you drive, has probably saved me a fortune!
Next time perhaps I’ll take an Ariel Atom badboy out!
Though still a bootspace issue…
🙂
