A little while back I joined Andy & Wing for their pre-wedding shoot around the civic quarter of Leeds city centre.
It was a lovely evening and after a coffee & a catch up we took to the streets for a few practice photos!
I always find these shoots a great experience to show a couple how it feels to be photographed, to make it easier for both them and me on the big day!
These guys had come prepared and brought along a few fun props!
I’d actually photographed the wedding of a pal of Wing & Andy’s a few years back (Shanshan & Chris’s wedding at Holdsworth House – blog here), and the tradition with Chinese weddings is to do a full on fashion-style engagement shoot.  I’d seen both Shanshan & Chris’ & Wing & Andy’s engagement albums, and although they’re great quality, they’re so stylised, photoshopped and contrived, and both couple’s had said to me that they’d booked me because they wanted their portraits to be natural and relaxed.
So that was the target with these images, to capture these two, relaxed and in love.
Arguably a spot of leapfrog on the civic hall steps isn’t uncontrived, but they asked for it!
This is more like it! Â It’s all about showing a couple I can capture them comfortable and chilled-out in each other’s company.
These guys were lovely together anyway; so it wasn’t difficult to place them together for a bit of a cuddle
Especially when we found an ace blossom tree behind the civic hall!
It’s going to be an ace wedding, with some traditional Chinese elements alongside Western wedding traditions.

Just as we finished, the sun was setting over Millenium Square and I rather liked this dusky shot of the Leeds Town Hall.
Keep your eyes peeled for Andy & Wing’s wedding highlights, up on the blog a day or two after their wedding!
