A couple of weekends back I had the pleasure of photographing these funky characters at their most excellent wedding in York. A few weeks previous we’d done their pre-wed in the sunshine in the gardens around their venue, The Hospitium, a picturesque 14th century listed building set within the Museum grounds. During their wedding breakfast I ducked outside and caught this of it. It was a fab building set on 2 floors, hosting the ceremony downstairs, wedding breakfast upstairs while the downstairs was turned around for the evening reception.
Unfortunately, the weather was more like this most of the day…
That’s what they walked down the isle to. Denied. You can just make out the candles floating in the hand painted jars on the steps.
Gotta love that English summer.
Still, the weather came and went, and we found the time to get what we needed outside when we needed it. When my second shooter Greg & I joined the gents in York, we saw this cheeky fella parked up outside!
Nice Samba Split! Jemma booked it as a surprise for Chris, through John at ‘Dub Tails‘ (John’s the cat in the check boats above). Chris was chuffed to bits, and pretty much lost for words when he saw it!
I liked Jemma & Chris from the first time I met them & their little lad Noah. I could tell from scratch these cool kids were gonna do things their own way, with a bit of fun. Take Chris’s orange braces & Paul Smith shirt (& matching socks!), for a start.
Jemma had some cool ace green shoes too (see the gallery later), made her own head dress & customised a Monsoon dress with pearls & a trail off the back. Her choice of flowers was lovely too.
I love this one of Jemma and her angelic little flower girl, digging in her nostrils.
Down the stairs & into the camper!

Into the Hospitium for a delightful civil ceremony
A moment outside a bit later, as the new Mr & Mrs Mayor
These cheeky little shots are courtesy of my 2nd shooter Greg, of Jemma’s duck umbrella, getting in on the action.
Love it. Gweg kwacks me up.
I loved this little detail.
I love talking a bit of rubbish to elicit a laugh before squeezing off a photo. Missed my calling as a stand-up, methinks!
Love that fisheye
Cool kids, looking cheeky!
Big kids, also looking cheeky!
I photographed the wedding of these two fine folk, Clare & Steve, at Goldsborough Hall last year. I’d met most of the guests at this wedding at their wedding! They’d nominated ushers roles and matching badges, including master of photography, master of flowers & master of fun! Brilliant. I love new, fun ideas at weddings. Their wedding was ace and it was cool to see em again.
Moments later, Steve turned green shredding his shirt and bounded to the bar to complain about the prices.

Another nice touch at Jem & Chris’s wedding was a fancy dress box! A fine call…
An English gentleman requires both moderate to high intoxication and the cover of darkness before he’s set forth upon a dance floor. With it taking forever to get dark, it took a while to get the kids dancing, especially with no official first dance. But we sneakily requested ‘Stevie Wonder – Superstition’, told the usher’s to get involved and off it went!
It loads of fun joining Jemma, Chris, Noah & their gang for their York wedding. I hope they have a long and happy life together.
