Back in January, after having been fortunate enough to photograph a wedding in Thailand and at the Houses of Parliament in London, we were also lucky enough to go to not one, but TWO weddings as GUESTS! Make no mistake; this is a rare and exciting thing for us…
…cos it means I get to buy new tweed and pretend I’m a country gent!
The first wedding was just outside London at Pinewood Studios, joining a good pal Dave as he wed his better half Ravinder in a brilliant Anglo/Sikh knees up! With my fave UK photographer duo The Lawsons at the helm I didn’t even take a camera (and got the lovely portrait of Clare & I, above left)! If you’ve some time spare (and are sitting comfortably) check out there brilliantly epic and photographically inspiring blog of the day here. Such top class work.
The second wedding, closer to home; was the wonderful union of our dear pals Jules & Tom at Leeds Civic Hall and LeftBank in Hyde Park. We hang out a lot, and they’d stressed that they wanted us along as guesticles to enjoy the celebrations. They booked my good pal Rob Booker to take official photographic duties, but being a one man operation can mean chasing around to capture both bridal and groomal morning preparations. So I volunteered to pap Tom’s side of the morning preparations (and promised Clare I’d put down the camera from the ceremony onwards!)
Go BOOKER T!
Rob did a sterling job capturing their day & ran a lovely highlights slideshow at the evening do (which can be viewed on their client area here).
I love being a 2nd shooter; there’s less pressure, less orchestration and in many ways (as I’m used to playing lead), more creative opportunities. But here are a few of my highlights from Tom’s chilled out preps at a snowy Hayley’s Hotel in Headingley and into town for the ceremony at Leeds Civic Hall…
I couldn’t help squeezing off a photo as they came down the aisle as man & wife!
Here’s one of the lovely newlyweds on the automated photobooth we set up for guests to mess about on during the evening reception!
Congratulations kids!
