Last Friday I joined Zuki & Julien for their wedding photography at their very special day at The Mansion in Roundhay Park, in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
My wingman for the day was local shooter, good pal and very silly beardy man Paul Stott (of Stott & Atkinson Photography) and we thoroughly enjoyed capturing the story of this wedding.  The day had a great international vibe, where Zuki (of Malaysian decent) and Julien (wonderfully French) were joined by friends and family who’d travelled across the world to join in the celebrations.
They make for a lovely pair, and while the day had a sad undertone (Zuki’s father Graham had passed away very recently – and was clearly in everyone’s thoughts), they celebrated in the way he’d have wanted.  Plus, they’d dedicated a park bench (above) to his memory, on Roundhay Park’s ‘little lake’, a short walk from the Mansion.
Zuki’s cousin wrote her own beautiful speech about love, with a paragraph of advice that really struck a chord with me:
“Here’s a small piece of advice: Love is a decision. It’s a choice. Love is more than the warm fuzzy feeling you felt when you first met each other. It’s greater than the excitement that comes from a first kiss, a proposal or even a beautiful wedding like this. Love is about deciding each and every day that you will do what’s best for the other person, that you will keep that person’s best interest at the forefront of your heart. When we fully grasp this notion – that love is more than a feeling, it’s a decision – we realise that it can withstand any storm, and prevail over any challenge.”
How perfect
Instead of tossing the bouquet, there was a game of ‘pull the ribbon’, where one ribbon is tied to the bouquet & the single ladies draw straws!
Beautiful day all round hey?  And really nice to wrap things up on dad’s bench at twilight. Hope you enjoyed the story.
So here’s wishing Zuki & Julien a very happy married life indeed and fab honeymoons in Brittany & Malaysia & Vietnam later this year!
Congratulations guys!
