On Saturday, I joined Bernadette + Craig to photograph their wedding at The Bradford Golf Club on the edge of Leeds, in Yorkshire
While Hamish headed off to join the chaps for their preparations, I hooked up with the bridal party in Heaton Village at ‘Dette & Craig’s home…
I like that all that’s on in August is to put the bins out twice and a wedding.
Nice quiet month.
The girls had been given impressively comprehensive bridesmaid support packs!
FYI: The WikiHelp screen below says ‘How to Stop Yourself from Crying!
Apparently one option is to tell yourself you’re a strong and independent person.
Meanwhile, over with the chaps, team groom were prepping the wedding car!
Looking sharp!
Having 4 brothers and 2 sisters, this isn’t the first (or probably last!) of the bride’s family to be wed at The Sacred Heart Church in Bingley!
I actually photographed Bernadette’s brother, Ben’s wedding to Emma at this very same church 6 years ago…
…which reminds me how long I’ve been doing this now!
After hair & makeup was done, the girls headed over to mum and dad’s house for a few celebratory drinks and to put on the dresses…
Mum and dad’s beautiful ‘French Boudoir’ bedroom made a splendid place to pop the dress on!
(Though I did get told off for ruffling the bed!)
What a beauty
Love this little scene.
This is what wedding photography is all about for me. Â Memories that capture both story and fun.
Even better when some real emotion is captured.
Like this little realisation of things actually coming together and about to get real!
Over at the church craig was receiving supportive humour from his best men and high 5’s from the flower girl
The service with delivered by Father Molloy with great, deadpan humour!
I give myself ten points every time I capture a flower girl picking her nose
😉
Setting up a big old confetti bomb shot never gets old for me
Then it was time to head over to the Golf Club for reception drinks & grub
It was WINDY as hell, and just before we took shelter above, I actually had to chase Bernadette’s veil as it flew over the club house!
In spite of the wind, we still managed to capture some lovely, relaxed portraits around the course.
It was lovely to catch up with brother of the bride and former-wedding couple, Ben & Emma after all these years!
Though she hardly looks it, Emma’s literally about to drop, and was under strict instructions to keep her legs crossed all day!
As it was a bit windy for outdoor pics, we did the family shots inside.
Gotta love the scale of a good Catholic family groupshot!
The other half of the clubhouse was beautifully set for the meal, with windows all around overlooking the course.
Speeches were great craic
And the groom’s speech almost eclipsed the best men!
After the meal, the wind had died a tad (kinda!), so we decided to have another round of quick pics….
(without the veil!)
These guys are a lovely pair, with a wicked sense of humour.
Then it was time for the evening’s official proceedings, including the the official cutting of the cake / groom
…and a lovely first dance.
They both clearly like a good boogie…
…as do the guests, and the 2nd dance was essentially a dance off where pairs took to the floor to dance across it in a novelty style.
As you do.
😉
The we left the gang to enjoy the party!
Really lovely to touch base with the gang again, and to share in & be amused by Bernadette & Craig’s fab big day.
Here’s wishing you guys a lovely life together and a fab honeymoon in Sorento in Italy.
