Yesterday I joined Sarah & Kevin for their wintery wedding at The Merchant Adventurer’s Hall in York – a beautiful ancient medieval guildhall in the city of York, and was once one of the most important buildings in the medieval city!

This 13th century medieval guildhall made for a brilliant place for Sarah & Kevin to host their wedding & their near & dear had a great time.

Clare & I joined Sarah & Kevin at the beautiful Churchill Luxury Hotel in Bootham, near central York.

It’s an historic, late Georgian mansion with a contemporary, modern interior dotted with ace ‘Churchill’ themed touches.

I found Sarah in the enormous, sun filled ‘Prince of Wales’ Bridal suite, opening a little present from Kevin

We had occasional visitors through the morning, including Kevin’s Mum popping in to say Hi!I loved the autumnal ‘skeleton’ leaves in the soft rose bouquets by Pauline Robinson

Another little visitor in the shape of page boy Oliver!

Meanwhile, in a considerably smaller room with considerably more people, Clare found team groom…

And here’s the man of the hour in a custom made team groom t-shirt!The rings!I love this shot of the chaps with the wedding car, a 1939 Austin Gordon Royal limousine, once owned by Fieid Marshall Montgomery!

Not only was Sarah & Kev’s wedding held in December when evening light is scarce, but the ceremony was at 4pm, so when the chaps arrived, the light was already beginning to fade.

But there was still time for some larking around

…and a few details of the colour-scheme and man-floraInside the great hall looked super smart and ready for action

Meanwhile, back in the bridal suite we found the full bridal party…Love this one of the girls helping Sarah into her gown!

Brilliant dress eh?Team Bride, ready to roll!

Don’t they look incredible? On the slow crawl through busy York traffic we received an amusing amount of attention from the masses!

Inside the full hall the masses were gathered and being entertained by a brilliant violinist

Here comes the bride!

The kiss!

The official signingAnd back down the aisle as man & wife!

While guests made their way to the undercroft below for hot Winter Pimms we snuck out to do a few evening portraits outside

I love this backlit one

And this one in front of the Hall under a deep blue sky

We’d met earlier this week for their pre-wedding practice photoshoot around the hall and got some cracking pictures of them in fun Victorian styled costumes!  Check out the full shoot here.

The practice shoot helped them get used to what I was looking for on the portrait front, but I had to bring Clare out for a bit of night-time lighting!

Before we got too cold we headed back into the hall for a few quick snuggles and smooches around this fabulous museum.

This is one of my faves.

After getting through a few official groupshots I took the wedding party upstairs for a bit of funThe monkey walk! The hall had been turned around and set for the ‘wedding breakfast’ with a wonderfully naturey themeBefore heading up we did a bit of a cramped everyone shot!Speeches were brilliant

This is one of my best Best Man speech shots I’ve taken in ages!Evening set in over the Merchant Adventurer’s Hall

Cutting the cake!

Kevin’s Mum made this fabulous lego inspired creation!

Brilliant eh?I’d seen a few times through the day that these guys call each other ‘bears’, so it was more than apt that their first dance was to The Jungle Book’s ‘Bear Necessities’!As the party got going we left the newlyweds and their party people to eat cake, get down and be merry!

Here’s to Sarah & Kevin and to a very happy life together!  May their wintery honeymoon in Munich and Salzburg be filled with good times and glühwein!
