Yesterday, we headed up to Ripon for the wedding photography of an old school pal of mine, Tamsin, as she married the lovely Brian at The Old Deanery, opposite Ripon Cathedral in North Yorkshire.  It was the first time I’ve been up to shoot a wedding here, and in spite of a drizzly forecast, we were all blessed with great weather when we wanted it (and even made use of the rain in the evening with some ace flash portraits on the Ripon Streets)!
The day was done to tune of Tamsin & Brian, eschewing almost all wedding formalities – no white dress, no formal wedding breakfast, no speeches, no cake cutting and no first dance – and it gave the day a wonderfully laid back, fun vibe.  Guests had plenty of time to hang out on the lawn behind the Old Deanery, skip around in the trees, and even wander up into Ripon centre at 9pm to watch the ancient tradition of the Hornblower (who comes out likes to blow his own trumpet and lay down extended history lessons!).  The hilarity of Tamsin’s mum putting her makeup on in the morning bordered on stand-up comedy!  Without forcing anything, the day for myself and my wingman Tim Atkinson, felt like such a lovely celebration of relationships and family, as these guys had wonderfully close family units.  It was also just lovely to reunite with a whole bunch of my old school pals – and it’s hard to believe it was 17 years since we left!
And all this forgets to mention that Lexie –Â Tamsin & Brian’s pooch – was on official bridesmaid and ring bearing duties!
I’m all for people’s fur babies being involved in their big day…
I hope you enjoy the story of their special day!
How wonderful it was to be involved in documenting the wedding of an old friend to clearly a very special man!
Here’s wishing Tammy & Brian (& Lexie) a long and happy life together!
Congratulations guys! Â Have a fab honeymoon in the Yorkshire Dales!
