Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

On Friday I joined Kerry & Mark to photograph their sunny, Spring wedding at Ripley Castle!

I joined Kerry & the bridal team in central Harrogate on a wonderfully sunny morning, where hair, makeup & general pampering was a’going on!

Look at this stunning gown, from The Bridal Gown in Otley.  You can sometimes tell that a dress is the perfect match for a bride, as this certainly was.

Mum clearly agreed!

My main man & fellow pro, Joel Skingle, stepped in on wingman photo duties, and joined the chaps over at Kerry & Mark’s home in Harrogate.

One of the groomsmen had called in a favour from a friend at a fancy car garage, and borrowed a convertible porsche to drive the groom!  Happy days.

All the chaps received a gift of cufflinks with their initials on each sleeve.

Then the guys headed over to the quaint olde Yorkshire village of Ripley, for a spot of dutch courage at The Boar’s Head.

The stunning ancient church in Ripley was all set and ready for the occasion

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

I love this image. Granted, it’s not 100% crispy sharp, but I love how Kerry’s expression captures the emotional enourmity of what’s about to happen…

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

I love the colours and composition of this one.

I know it’s an additional expense to getting ready at home, but it’s so nice to have modern, bright apartments & hotels to get ready in.

I’m a big fan of the above image on the left too, for it’s lines & moment.  Not all wedding images need to be smily moments.

I do like to photograph the switching over of the engagement ring to make room for the wedding band.

While understated, for me, it’s another punctuation mark on the flow of the day.

One ready bride, ready to rock!

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

Kerry’s uncle had kindly volunteered to drive Kerry & dad in his amazing vintage Rover.

Meanwhile, over at All Saint’s Church in Ripley, one ready groom was being comforted by his best man!

The old vicar at Ripley had the most draconian no-photography rules, so it’s lovely that the new vicar allowed us to do our thing and capture lovely images like this!

I usually set up a confetti bomb after I’ve done a big everyone shot, but we decided that they’d leave the church on the other side, then do the ol’tunnel bomb!

I rather like it.

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

One thing you can’t book is the weather, and it’s always nice to get a cracking day like this eh!?

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

While the newlyweds took a little turn in the Rover with some fizz, guests made their way into the stunning Ripley castle…

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

It’s a grand old place!

It’s not something I do a great deal, but Kerry + Mark asked if I’d do a heart-shaped groupshot, and it’s actually a nice way to clearly see all the guests!

Then we whistled through the family lineups…

…and a few fun teamshots with the wedding party

Before Joel and I took the happy couple on a little sunny stroll around the grounds…

Beautiful eh?

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

Upstairs the wedding breakfast was set and ready for the meal

Speeches were great fun

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

As was the bouquet toss!  I generally miss these as they’re done at night, so it was fun to see a good bun-fight for the bouquet!

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

It’s a castle, so it seemed only fitting to cut the cake (by Sugar Crafted Cakes, Ripon) with a sword!

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

Then all of a sudden it was time for first dance!

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

Fun times all round!

Ripley Castle Wedding Photographer,Barnaby Aldrick Wedding Photography,

And before we headed off, Joel & I did a quick, backlit night portrait of Kerry & Mark to wrap up the story of their special day!

Hope you enjoyed reading. It was a magic day all round, and so great to have such splendid weather!

Here’s wishing Kerry & Mark a very happy life together and a fab mini-moon in Helmsley ahead of their main honeymoon to California in the summer hols!

Barns & Joel
